Masterful tonal range and the DOF is just perfect. She is so adorable. Some may not like the composition leading right off the edge of the photo, but I think it still works very well. Only thing I could suggest would to get catchlights in the eyes. Good Job!

Beautiful! Great B/W conversion, love the tone you picked. I would have dodged her face/eyes just a tiny bit to bring out the details a little but just ignore me, it's a wonderful shot! Hope it's a canvas hanging on her parents wall by the end of the challenge *wink*

Nice toning. Only improvement I can offer is to lighten the shadows in her eye sockets.

very cute image, seems everything is very well banlanced here. Except my eyes are drawn to the spot on the top of her head. But very nice.

Good use of the whole frame and dof. I like the tone and the light in general, altough a bit of light bounced into the face and eyes would make it perfect. Nice tone. 8

Happy, carefree, childhood days just spend laying in the grass at the park is what this photo communicates to me. The pose of the little girl with her feet raised & crossed and her laying in the grass with head resting in her hands is a classic pose that communicates a carefree moment just enjoying the breezy summer/spring day. I like the sepia look for it adds a nostalgic look and feel to it. And by far it is that wonderful and adorable SMILE that makes this photo such a feel good & happy one. Great shot - bumping up from 7 to 9 to move it into the exceptional good category.

I locve the B&W tones, but it seems like something went wrong with resizing, the lines are a bit pixelized. still a beautiful pic.

One of few "young person" shots that I've seen that actually works in this challenge, and doesn't just look snapshotty or as though someone has decided that their baby makes a decent prop. Also a good example of B&W I think, some of the others have been crying out for colour where this does not.

The contrast in this b&w is very, very good. For a guy that's not really a big fan of kid photos, I'm absolutely amazed by the quality of kid photos in this challenge. This is definitely among the best of those. Great job!

Such nice detail! From the bits of polish on her fingernails to the embroidary on her pants pockets. This is stunning! The only thing I would have changed is I would have cloned out the piece of grass(?) in her toe. Wish i could give you MORE than a 10.....but I guess that's a good thing, huh? Thanks for sharing! Hope this one wins!

09/01/2006 03:22:04 AM
Good toning. The crop feels a touch close on the side of frame she's looking toward, maybe; perhaps that's just that you've placed her face too far off the strong line.

09/01/2006 03:14:00 AM
Very sweet image. Love the tonal range. Super sharp also. I probably would have scaled back the sharpness just a bit in her hair, which is a bit pixelated. Or maybe that's due to the resize?
