Biography: 50-something musician/pilot/photographer doing database design work to eat. From the first time I saw a scanned photo on a Commodore Amiga I thought it would be so cool if one day I could take pictures, have them automatically scanned into the computer (I was thinking of a film scanner that the developer would use and deliver the images on floppy). Then have the ability to retouch, because the picture I took with my Nikon FE (back in the film days) of the leaning tower of Pisa had a napkin on the ground that had just blown in the way when I was pressing the shutter. I didn't notice it until I was back in the States and had the film developed, and I never know if I'll get back to Pisa again.

If that was a run-on sentence, it's good that I'm a computer nerd and not an English teacher...

Been playing around with digital cameras since my first $500 Casio (320 x 240), wow! Amazing what $500 will buy today.

Have always preferred Nikon glass. From my first FE, through my CoolPix 5xxx, D70, and now D200. After seeing some of the macro work on DPChallenge, I'm inspired to get a 60 or 100mm macro lens. We'll see how the budget fares.
    Signature: cheers,
    -mark
