Taken at the Wave, Utah. I didn't know about the desolation challenge when I took this, but I thought it didn't fit the challenge too badly, so here it is. Hopefully someone will like it.

Love this shot, really do.
The sepia colours you've used are perfect for it.
Just goes to show great shots can still be taken by what is considered a 'crap' lens.
Well done. Deserved the red!

By FAR my favorite over the winner, sometimes I don´t understand the results of DPC, think this should have won even though the winner shot isn´t bad at all, just think this one is much better. Like it enough to put it in my favorites, awesome composition!

Congrats on your second ribbon in a week. Both great pictures. Not to be a nitpicker but "The Wave" is across the border in Arizona and not in Utah. While hiking you crossed the State line. :)

Hard to get a pass into The Wave. They take reservations months in advance. How did you manage to get in. It is a world class photo op.

Beautiful place, I wonder where it is? Great play of lines, a tack more sharpness in the foreground would have been nice. Still, very good, feels like a desolate place to me!

This is a stunning photograph. The only improvement that could have been made would have been to widen the depth of field (hyperfocal), to get those lines in the foreground as sharp as the rest - I love the patterns that they make. Not enough of a criticism to affect my scoring though - it's a brilliant photo.

Honestly, I am having trouble seeing desolation. In other words is it half full, or half empty. I can not tell. So, I'll give it to ya.

An amazing image. Excellent comp, excellent movement, excellent lines, blacks a bit too deep, and whites barely in because of this technicallity not perfect, minimalistic feel, great lighting, excellent texture, maybe a bit soft on the right hand shadowed area but not disturbingly,
