Greetings from the Critique Club.
What is there not to like about this gorgous, well thought out photograph?
I have pondered on this one a lot, and , all i have is praise for this, it belongs in a frame on someone`s wall!
You did a wonderful job on this lovely composition, with your own touch.
The slow shutterspeed makes the water apear glasslike, though myself, i prefer to see things natural, without the silk look, it still is art and not to be faulted.
The colors in the sky are beautiful and add depth to this, i love the rocks in the foreground.
Thank you for sharing, and continued success is wished upon you!

Another case where I let the beauty of the shot rule my vote - not so desolate it seems to me.
But the other voters obviously disagreed, so congrats! :)

Wowsa, nice shot. More serene than desolate, to me, but the voters have spoken :-) Hell of a shot either way.

too me this is peaceful not desolaate, however since the challenge is what does desolation to you, I am not letting this affect my vote for the challenge, but maybe others feel the same. the DoF on your shot is amazing and composition is great.

Comparative desolation: a filthy canal in Brooklyn on fire. Graffiti and stains on the walls of a burned out house. Children growing up in cockroach infested homes. Your photo looks like paradise to me. But we will say it is artistic desolation, OK? 8.

Amazing shot, gorgeous color and contrast between the earth and sky. The large body of water in the background definitely gives it an appearance of a desolate area IMO. Simply gorgeous. Good luck! 8
