This is Kristin again, if you recognize her its of course because she modeled for the original shot too, here it is ->
.

She is also my middle model for the Triptych challenge and the model for my Textures IV entry.

Immediately when I read this challenge description I knew I had to do this shot again, the original is the only time I have been disqualified and I really disagreed with the decision at the time even though I have long ago accepted it. There simply was no other challenge I COULD have done again as far as I was concerned :)

This is taken just down the road from where my road entry was taken, about 1-2 km closer to Reykjavik. Well obviously I couldnt reproduce the shot identically as the season has changed so I decided to do a "summer version", sort of. Taken late in the evening, at about 10:30 pm the last day of submission and just lit with ambient lighting as was the original.

Post processing was a lot more this time, I of course had to add the vignetting at the bottom again :) I removed a couple of poles on the sides of the road and while I originally intended to include the lines in the road, the only visible part was around her feet and somehow I didnt think it looked right so I removed the white traffic lines too, but just around her feet, they were not visible at the rest. Adjusted the whitebalance to get a more "golden" look at the image, then increased contrast dramatically and saturation a small bit. Cropped to a 1:1 ratio and finallly sharpened after resizing.

After this, me and Kristin decided to do fall and spring versions of these two photos too and Ill probably figure out a way to fit them into challenges here so look out for a third shot sometime around october and a spring shot somewhere around march 2007.

Here are the fall and spring versions ->

Well it won my Blue Ribbon. It was my only 10 in the challenge. This photo was tackled with great vision, and executed perfectly.

It gives me the sense that this model just simply appeared for the shoot and then disappeared. The mood is beautiful as well, warm, and not so flashy (if thats the right word) Everything from the lines on the road, to the glasses on her head, even to the watch she is wearing. As the youth of today like to put it....Its all good baby!
Congrats.

One of the more striking photos in this challenge. The DOF and processing really work in this pic. Squre crop is also interesting and effective.

Beautiful warm light. I really like the Summer/Spring take on the shot. As good maybe even better than the first take.
Minor nitpick, perhaps dodging the eyes just a bit, to bring them out more since they are kinda dark.

Hey, now you have a matched set! Love the contrasts in season, dress, and even model in that one has light hair, one dark. Still love the original, by the way, but this makes a very fitting counterpart.

I can't describe how much I like this one. It must be the serene mood or the fact that she's walking right in front of me that draws me into this image. Hmm, I can't find the right words for it in English. I hope you understand what I mean.

Anyway, awesome photo. I hope it gets a good score. Added to favorites.

I hate to say this but her outfit is wrong for this pic. This is a wonderful idea and a great pic but the colors just detract my eye. I'm not going to let that affect my score though. I'm not saying her outfit is bad (she's definitely a very attractive woman) but something just doesn't fit right with the colors. 8
