Great fear. Two problems. The tonal range of the picture is kind of flat. No really strong shadows. Second, I'd like to see not so much a less busy background as one without the welded wire stuff behind the woman. Was a different angle possible that wouldn't have included that? |

yes, my greatest feeling of fear would be the loss of my best friend, my love, shown in the empty space in your picture. |

What a powerful statement about aging in the United States.... Your photo reminds me of one of my grandmothers. I must phone her. |

Effective in grayscale; I seem to want to crop just a bit more from the top and right... |

awww, that is so sad. Did you pose her or was this for real? Great idea for the fear challenge. I think many people have a fear of being alone. I like the b&w. |

Evocative photo. Some may find it a bit dull (though I applaud the use of B&W). However, for me, it does one of the better jobs of any photo I have seen for "fear". The lilly, I think, is key. Well done. |

Well-composed and exposed. The placement of the woman on the bench is perfect. It make it look like there is someone missing. |

nice work, this is a pretty common fear and you captured it well :) |

nicely done. A genuine fear I think most of us have. I like the b&w too - seems to add the right touch to such a somber moment. Could be me, but wish is was a tad sharper - Good job! Great photo. cthenk |

I would like to see the object behind the woman removed as it is distracting. Otherwise this is a great photo |

A fear we all have in our later years. What I see in the photo is sadness, without the title the picture would not stand in the challenge. B/w works well in this picture, but may I suggest paying more attention to what is behind the subject, the pole growing out of her head is not very flattering. If you would have moved some to camera left she could be framed between the tree trunk and the poles and still off center at the left frame third. |

Sad idea, well portrayed. Good contrast. Subject would have been better with a more uniform, contrasting background. 7 Swash |

A great fear of many, indeed. My only suggestion would be to frame the subject with the "open" space in front of her instead of behind. It seems to give it more balance that way. karmat |

I truely value the thought and inspiration behind this picture. I beleave this is a fear we all share expecialy as we age. Excelent picture. |

More of the picture should have been in front of her instead of behind her, but I do like the picture |

Nice job. My favorite (besides my own of course) I would have liked more tombstones, but this is a very touching photo. I suspect she does not know you were there. BW works well too. 10 David Ey |

Loneliness is a tough fear :) In this photo, the first critique that I have to offer is that is a bit over ezposed. Secondly, Since your subject is on the left side of the frame and looking to the left, there is a lot of dead space in the right half of the image. If your subject was facing towards the left or if she was positioned on the right side of the frame, the photo would be more appealing to me. If this doesn't make sense, send me a note and I'll try to explain it in a little more detail :) = 6 - jmsetzler |

This is very expressive and deeply touches the heart. For many older women it is their deepest fear. |

I'm sure you're breaking one or two of those "B/W photos MUST..." rules, but I don't care. You nailed the challenge! those posts behind her hurt it a little. maybe a differnt angle would have worked? |

in french, i would have say : "poignant". The position of the model on the side of the bench is great, and she's facing the left means she's looking at her past life ! Terrific ! |

That fence behind the subject is a problem. |
