dang, this picture is harsh.. haha, when i firstt glanced at it i thought it was cute, but then i read wat was in the box, and i thought thats messed up..

So is it the man or the woman who can't commit in this picture? I can't tell.

If you can summarize how you conquered your fear let me know. I just split from my boyfriend of three years, he doesn't know if he wants to be married. We spent a year in couples therapy to try to figure it out.

To me, this picture doesn't show fear, but a kick in the balls. Ouch.

It's a good sshot anyway-9

This was a really hard challenge, this picture was taken a few hours before the deadline, I just couldnt come up with any ideas so the props were just some things laying around the house. Any way thanks for the great comments.

Love the idea, have some problems with the set up. I think I can understand why you'd use silk flowers for the shot, but in the context of the picture they seem really tacky. Would you give/expect silk flowers from your lover in terms of getting engaged? Second, the note looks typed out -- bad enough to turn someone down via a note, but to not even make it a handwritten one? And then to keep the ring and just give back the box with the note inside? If you'd used real flowers, left the ring in the box, and the placed the note off to one side in the composition, I'd have upped my score. :-)

is this you Gordon? - definately your quality - 9
07/14/2002 04:02:00 AM
creative idea.

Beautiful arangement. Perfect colors. I wish the leaf wasn't covering the "I" in the note. Did I mention the great colors? 10
07/13/2002 02:44:00 PM
I love the crispness on this. So well composed.... and such an authentic fear!
07/13/2002 09:46:00 AM
graphic quality is very good.
07/13/2002 03:40:00 AM
hehe, he must also be afraid of the cost of real flowers! very nice picture--good framing and composition--and I really like the use of just those three (main) colors. 8-amitchell

good lighting... concept is great
07/12/2002 12:41:00 AM
Real roses (IMO) are needed here, and the white box on white (looks like a mattress cover?) doesn't do much for me, but the creativity is great, the clarity is great and the presentation is really nice. Great job. cthenk

It looks as though you put a lot of time and work in this picture, and it is nice, however I have a hard time getting into the fear of it. a 6 by Autool

Beautiful photograph, technicaly speaking, and that is just the first of many fears of commitment down the road of married life. One of my top ten this week.
07/10/2002 12:26:00 PM
Very nice composition and color

Watta twit! Good idea and good capture. Yours is much higher quality than most of these entries. Shey.
07/09/2002 10:44:00 PM
great picture, great imagination
07/09/2002 08:48:00 PM
Very clever. One of the few photos I've really liked in this challenge.
07/09/2002 06:01:00 PM
great interpretation of the challenge. i really like this shot. one thing (nitpicky) - i would like the note to be handwritten rather than typed and on some less white paper. still, one of my top 10 this week. -- gr8photos (9)

Didn't need a title to carry this photo. The image speaks volumes. Congrats on a great photo and a great message. gets my "10". nice1. Dogman ;-)

very nice :)

Good picture, good idea.
07/09/2002 12:46:00 PM
Ha ha =)
07/09/2002 12:24:00 PM
ohhhh, very realistic....! ;o)
07/09/2002 12:13:00 PM
I like this shot and idea/message for fear. However the ring box logo detracts from the mood of the shot :( , also I would have liked to see the ring with the note. Good shot nonetheless!
07/09/2002 12:00:00 PM
made me laugh...
07/09/2002 09:19:00 AM
Excellent composition and technique. Almost too clinical in it's setup for my tastes but I'm still giving it a 10. Great job!
07/09/2002 09:17:00 AM
Its a creative idea but I'm not entirely happy with the way it was executed. I don't like the white space in the lower left. Also it looks like you only had one light source and there are alot of shadows that probably should have been lit up.
07/09/2002 05:17:00 AM
fair composition and good concept
07/09/2002 12:18:00 AM
This is my favorite picture this week. Not only does it tell a story, but it tells a story that is all to common for many relationships. It is also technically very well done. I gave it a 10. :)
07/08/2002 10:56:00 PM
A novel approach and the photograph is crisp, bold and clear.
07/08/2002 10:18:00 PM
Very good composition and lighting. Nice setup for the props.
07/08/2002 07:29:00 PM
very pretty and sharp flowers..
07/08/2002 06:22:00 PM
Cute. Well executed, but synth. roses digitally create excess patterns. In a way, this might be considered "adding" to the story. Fake roses for a less than real proposal...... 6 Swash
07/08/2002 05:35:00 PM
Great photo and very much a great fear!
07/08/2002 04:29:00 PM
Nice composition. It just looks so so staged though, with the silk flowers, computer written note and all. Real flowers and a handwritten note would have been more realistic, and therefore more powerful.
07/08/2002 03:44:00 PM
Great Job!! Nice color and a sense of humor....(unless this is happening to you). 9
07/08/2002 01:35:00 PM
really nice, Great lighting
07/08/2002 01:12:00 PM
Very cute! Your flowers are frayed, though ;-) A different color background would have set off the white box and note perhaps
07/08/2002 01:02:00 PM
beautiful but.....
07/08/2002 01:00:00 PM
Rejection.....well done. Kee
07/08/2002 12:53:00 PM
Nicely done. Beautiful roses and just a great idea for the "fear" challenge!
07/08/2002 10:17:00 AM
beautifully composed. The fake white rose needs fibers trimmed from it. Very clever idea
07/08/2002 01:05:00 AM
THIS is fear... plain and simple ! It's so me ! A great effort that I hope pays off this week. NICE !!!!
