Mick... what an amazing high quality image. You are to be commended for placing high in this very, very competative challenge. Btw, thanks again for your framing advice, my January showing was a good success and I sold a couple prints. I will be in Oregon in early to mid-May and would like to get together to take pictures if that can be arranged.

Nicely done. Gritty, grungy, and well presented for the subject matter. Nice composition too.. but you should have had the model clean his fingernails. *big grin*

I love pictures of hands. They can convey so much about a person without showing their face. This is very well done. Super job with the lighting! Have you tried it in black and white?

great image, very unusual portrait, really tells a story of a coalminer, everything is just perfect, so there's nothing to add :)

Good work, very good. The textures and sharpness harmonize well together. The composition is fitting too. Just the abrupt pass over on the top finger to darkness comes over too unnatural for me.

I love how the thumb and index finger are in shadows. The detail of the skin from the grime adds to the shot. Nicely done.

Oooooh. . .I remember an awesome picture like this that accidentally got in the wrong challenge a while back. If this is the same photographer, I'm so glad you entered it here because its very striking and powerful. Good luck!

The Flame just asked to hold the bunny for a second...and that was all it took.

I love the simplicity of this image, yet it tells a story of work and determination. Great shot! 7

Lovely and gritty on this one, texture is fantastic and the negative space helps draw the eyes in. 9/10

Awesome. I can almost smell it. The detail of the veins and lines in the hands, not to mention the dirty fingernails. The lighting is like the gods came down and shone on that hand alone. WOW 10
