Challenge: Knife Fork Spoon (Advanced Editing IV)
Collection: 2005
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro for Nikon
Location: Trail BC
Date: Dec 3, 2005
Galleries: Still Life, Digital Art
Date Uploaded: Dec 1, 2005

Flipped horizontally. Fairly normal conversion to b/w (adjusted histogram, increased contrast a bit, used channel mixer). Cleaned some little spots (dust) mainly below the forks.

Resized, rest of work on small picture.

Sharpened, ran through noise reduction.

Created duplicate layers, blurred using gaussian blur, and blended with original in soft light (somewhere around 70%). Merged layers.

Created another duplicate layer, blurred with gaussian blur, erased portions (forks and cloth) in top layer, blended with original in normal (at a fairly low percentage, don't remember exactly how much). Merged layers.

Created yet another duplicate layer, coloured light blue using colourization ??. Erased portions to reveal b/w layer below. Blended in normal (at about 50% or so). Merged layers. Adjusted colour temp a tad to make just a bit warmer.

Saved.

I was going for the look of the poster for the movie "From Here to Eternity". I've always liked that scene on the beach. And, if anyone is interested in what they're doing, "they're forking" :))))

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

'from here to eternity'

A very nicely composed, simple but elegant image. The post-processing done is excellent - not over done. I like your creativity also - using forks instead of the "spooning" spoons. Very clever. I cannot find anything negative at all as the focus, DOF, contrast, saturations are all done so well.

Just wanted to let you know that this was one of my 9s during voting, but I didn't have time to leave a comment. What a skill to suggest such romance and intimacy using nothing more than two forks and a piece of muslin! I really like the softness you have achieved here too. Just beautiful!

Seriously Ursula, you're totally monopolizing all the top spots. You gotta have a few low scorers or they're gonna know about the SC bonus points.

Quite creative....never imagined Burt and Deborah as forks...but it really sort of works. Not sure everyone well get the reference but I like the imaginative take on this.

By far the best "make out" scene of all the entries. Of course some might get freaked out over two forks making out instead of a knife or spoon but people should just get over their hangups. :)

Nice shot but the refrence to the famous scene may be lost on the younger demographic. Lacking the refrence it is a rather stilted shot, with the refrence it is quite funny

This is conceptually outrageous and quite beautifully executed. the title, of course, makes the picture. so much for folks who say titles are irrelevant. I hope enough people "get" it for this to score as well as it deserves,

I never knew forks could be so romantic. This is really lovely. Love the blue tones and the softened edges.
