Great use of selective desaturation. The person walking by on the right also helps give this photo a real pulse. I think what might make this image even better is if you spent some time cloning out the white specks and the dirt on the stairs. Just my two cents.

(p.s. I'm also adding this to my favorites)

Wow, I really liked this image but didn't think it would break the top 10! I happened to enter the stairwell in the New York Design Center in Manhattan when I looked down and saw the above. Took a few quick shots... The red color of the handrail is really that vivid. I'm not thrilled that there's a person on the second floor down, but some seem to like the motion it adds...

Thanks to all who commented.

Whoa this makes me dizzy! LOL Love it though - terrific symmetry. The balance and colors are great. Congrats on your top 10 finish!

unique interpretation...even floors; square shaped stairs(even sides); if only the ground was painted green, that'll make the colors even too

Good capture. I love the strong contrast of the red and the grey, and I like the smidge of a moving body. Well done!

Great shot. The vividness of the railing against the stairs and the seemingly enless drop hold the eye. One of the top shots of this challenge in my opinion.

I think I would have liked it more if there was not someone on the stairs.

I think that the person in motion is a great touch - great color, geometric pattern, and composition.
