I really like this shot. The addition of the noise was a must...it really makes this a "reminiscing" (sp?) picture.

The boats in the backgorund really give life to what would be an otherwise lonely picture.

This should have done better, wish I could have voted. Border is not acceptable. Why bother?

Well, X, I confess I gave this only 6. For the first time ever, I reacted to a border (I usually think all this 'distracting border' crap is like dismissing a book because you don't like the typeface). But this border somehow prevented me from getting inside the image. So I took the easy way out (6) and moved on. But when later I saw tributes from JPR & goodman, I figured I'd better take another look ... there was obviously more there than I'd seen. It's not that I dislike wide borders, by the way; I love this and especially this, for example. But I did trip over this particular border. So I did something I've never done before; I copied the image. Then I changed the black border for white (same size). For me, the photograph was transformed. It went from being a nice picture to a totally absorbing work. Now I could get in there and roam about, happy as a sandboy. I'm not suggesting you should have used a white border, by the way; I figure this is my failing, not yours. After all, Lesley & Jason apparently had no trouble. I just thought you might be interested in a Philistine's view. Oh, and I did NOT save the white border version ... it's gone forever. Cheers, Paul.

Love the perspective here, and the dark graininess. Nice composition.

Really interesting border but I think the border detracts. If you replicate a mat by inserting a small white line around the pic, I think you'll get the drama you're after.

Subject working towards the end or standing in the direction of the boat would have given this shot more power. Good composition.

Beautiful! I love the grain and the monochromatic choices made in this image. The dock leads to a perfect dead end. The posture of the man implies his contemplation. And yet, with the boats lively lit and what appear to be birds flying, the rest of the world is alive. Superb!

This photo tends to grow on you. Nothing much at first glance but a second look makes me come back for a third and more. And the more I look the more I become sort of attached to it. 9 for the addiction. ;)

I like this shot but find the border very distracting.

I find the thick border on this a little over powering but otherwise an outstanding photo!

Definately a dead end. I like the blue tones. Not fond of the border.

I don't care for the border or the contrast.

Nice shot, like the grain, frame is a bit heavy though IMHO.

This has a wonderful feeling to it. And the colour helps set that mood.

i really like this photo, the sinking dock fits the challenge well. the border is a bit too wide for my personal tastes, but well done nonetheless!

I like the moonlit sense of it. The grain is a nice touch. Great use of leading line as well.
