i thought about getting up early enough and driving over to photograph this, but then i realized just how early it was in the morning and though maybe i'd like my pillow more...

This is an exciting photo. Great capture. I'm glad you left the crowd in. Makes a greater impact. Also the green lights and the balloons on the left help the composition. The only thing I think might make it better is having less sky on the top. When I cover the top except just above the top balloon, it has an even greater impact for me.

Good timeing, but the cables are a distracting element, maybe if you were on a higher ground.
