Oh, man, I'm having a hard time choosing. Took a huge bunch of pix this afternoon and haven't even had a chance to look at them all ... but the deadline is looming ... so this is it.

I've never really done any action/sports photography, so this is very new for me. Thanks to my brother-in-law Ernie who had a free ticket for me to go to this event. :)

I was quite happy with my camera. I shot mainly P-mode and continuous focus / shoot. Exposure compensation as necessary. This one is +0.7EV.

More pix to come on PBase once the voting is over.

I like how this one gives a sense of the height, plus there isn't much sky (it was overcast all day and many of the shots where they fly look like they are cut-outs because of the blown out sky) and there's room for the bike to go (right and down), thus fulfilling the challenge.

Seems you beat my motocross shot afterall! I've had a look at your other shots and they look great. It is a fun subject to shoot don't you think? Well Done!

Thank you for all the nice comments. I agree that a blurred background from panning would've been better ... but I'm still happy with the results for a first attempt. More random photos from that day can be seen at my PBase account.

One of the few shots in the challenge where the challenge itself was important to the picture. I like how this person is flying into and down towards the center. It's great. 9

Nice crisp capture of the motion. The bit of dirt in the bottom is perfect - we can see the landing. The trees make a great backdrop - a sense of the place but not distracting. 9

Great shot. Like the bit of land that you left in. Would have prefered a shorter DOF to blur the trees more, but thats just me. Your sharpness on the biker is excellent.

great use of space, and off centre with a purpose! :)

Great motion shot. Like the way you framed him with the ground so much lower. A really nice shot -9

Very cool shot... I'd recommend cropping so the rider is right up in the top corner (1/4 inch space), and so the shot is less wide. The ground is perfect as it is. 8.

Gorgeous journalistic shot! I like the cropping chosen here, which makes the off-centeredness of it have meaning!

Good shot! the off centre shot here makes you feel something (mostly ouch in a second or two)

This photo is one that I would hang on my wall. 9

Weeee! My biking-enthusiast neighbor has told me in the past how hard it is to capture these shots, so I'll have to bump you up a point for that alone! Great work.

Very nice capture, good sharp focus on the bike and rider, nice colours. All in all, a great shot.

This kicks @$$ (not at money money!) Great capture. Focus is excellent and the texture and muddiness give it a great feel. The only problem I have with it is the background. Ideally, I would like the background blurred, but since you can't do that I would have at least desaturated or lightened up or done something with the green. Great job. One of my favorites so far.

Maybe crop the bottom to make it look like the biker is higher then he actually is, panning would have created more of an effect of motion, but other then that the photo is ok. 5
