This knife measures about 16 1/2" overall, has an 11" blade, and is handmade. It was a bit of a challenge to photograph without getting glare on the blade, as it has a mirror finish.

I have pondered over this image for a couple days now, and I am still stuck on the opinion that it doesn't look like a real image. The knife looks digitally altered or something. Not sure if it's the lighting or non reflection or what that makes it look this way, but it looks flat and fake.
I think it's the band of grey at the top near the tip of the knife, and the flat surface of the knife that make it look this way.
Your intentions were to keep reflection off the knife, and for that, I think you did a good job. But maybe too good, cause it just doesn't look natural.
I like the positioning of the knife and the angle at which you chose to shoot it at.
Focus and clarity are good, sharp where it needs to be.
I can't decide also if I like the tiny area of purple up in the upper right corner either. Seems like a distraction, however, had that area not been lighter, the handle would not be as visible.
Overall, it's a neat clean image, just doesn't look natural.

I really appreciate the comments - particularly regarding the lighting (good or bad), as this was tough for me to get. I wasn't entirely happy with the look, but I thought it was the best of a number of takes. If someone has more suggestions on how to improve this, I would love to hear them. I make knives (this is one of mine!), and photographing a blade with a mirror finish has always given me some trouble.

For this shot, I lit the subject from the left side and held one larger & one smaller piece of white card as reflectors in key positions to diffuse a little light & control glare. But, as some rightly noted, I somewhat lost the reflective appearance of the shiny blade.

Killer image, pun intended. Beautifully lit. I'm a bit unsure how I feel about the shift in BG behind the handle, but I'm not gonna let it bother me.

Yes, it is a knife. I'm rather surprised that there are actually quite a couple of these. Sharp focus. Just like the blade.

The perspective really works for this shot...The lighting seems a litle flat, maybe too dark toward the tip? Something in the lighting is keeping it from being spectacular, not sure I can put my finger on it. Nice work overall though.

That IS a knife. The clarity is there but I don't sense any reflective quality which might have made this a really spectacular shot. The wrinkling of the blue fabric in the back is a tad distracting. I think a solid flat backdrop might have served you better.

Wow nice angle, it could have used better lighting though. It almost looks like a 3D designed sword though.
