This is Unnur Birna Vilhjalmsdottir, Miss Iceland 2005 who was kind enought to pose for me specifically to take a shot for this challenge.
Lit with ambient light and used a 580ex hand to the left side above triggered with a transmitter as fill light and to create a catchlight in her eye. Only PP is a slight crop off the top and right side, curves to increase contrast and unsharp mask after resizing.
Post-voting edit: I can´t believe so many of you thought the backround was distracting, as always I strongly value everyones opinion but I don´t think I have ever disagreed so much, I think the backround makes this photo work. Oh well, fortunately different people have different tastes :o). Anyway, the shot did better than I thought so thanx for the rating and especially comments and favorites.

Very nice model indeed. Sometimes, I wonder how human faces can be different in different parts of the world. Are almond eyes quite common in Iceland? Nice picture, if the background was a little bit darker, this picture could have reached the top positions.
Background distracting?? With a face like that, you could have a trash heap in the background and it would pull my gaze away from her eyes. ;-) Great job!
I love this one a lot !!!!
Not only because of the beautiful model , she is fantastic !
I like the half smile , the way she looks at the viewer ...
Colors are natural , light is good , hard to ask for more ...
One of my favs for this challenge.
amazing! beautiful girl, nice makeup and hair. the lighting isnt bad either... dont care too much for the white parts in the bushes.. nice use of the sun as a back light.. congrats and keep up the good work!!
Simple but obviously effective. Strange effect created by the bokeh on the background and the hair as they amalgamate...it looks cool. Something about her right cheek is a little oversharp, maybe? Anyhow, great shot, nice and simple.
Having a beautiful model always helps in these challenges, doesn't it? She's stunning! And you did a great job with the lighting and depth of field, too! 10
Technically this is a beautiful picture. The colors, exposure and pose are all very attractive. For me I would like to see a little bit more personality in a portrait, or at least something that tells you about the person being photographed. Maybe having some emotion on her face would help. Or possibly having the background be someplace that is symbolic or important to her. The bright green of the background is also a little distracting.
Glad to see her back. I gave her a 10 in the Beauty challenge. Should have been in top 10 at least. Worthy of a 10 in this shot as well. I like the lighting and the background.
The green is too bright and distracting from the otherwise beautiful subject. A little green could have gone a long way! I would crop the entire left half off.
Very nice. I like the green background but I think its too much. Maybe crop a bit off. Love the highlights in her hair. It brings out the hazel in her eyes.
amazing, what a great looking face does to a well setup portrait! She's stunningly beautiful and so is your portrait. From what I've seen so far, this should make at least the top 20.
