A quick modelling session with my 10 year old daughter one evening in the house

This was one of those throwaway shots, I had spent awhile editing two others with a more conventional "looking at camera" set up then as I was checking back over the originals this one caught my eye and it was decided there and then.

Deliberate levels boost to getthat white white background but apart from that straight from camera (resize and sharpen obviously)

Steve you were definitely robbed. This deserved a much higher finish than this. Looked at portfolio and thought this was your best entry yet! Good luck in the future

I'm not sure this needs the extra space on the sides -- I think this would look good with a square crop. Good lighting, interesting use of the hood as an internal frame.

I really like the set up here and the expression! The white background really lets you focus on the eyes. great lighting and not overly sharpened. IMHO, a tighter crop on the left side would make the eyes wander a bit more to where she is looking. I like the originality of the head 'gear' :) it adds a lot of depth!

I like the way this is done a lot but there's something I can't put my finger on that doesn't seem quite right. Just wondered if it's not a bit off center. I would maybe crop the right side just a wee bit more. Still a great idea and shot!

This is excellent. The position in the frame, although more to the bottom helps to give a reason for the upward eyes. The eyes are the clear focal point. The lighting is beautiful and the fur is adding a soft texture that is veruy appealing. Would love to know your lighting set up. 10

Good shot, nice contrast between the subject and background.

Technically good but too much background. Good tonal balance.

Would like to see a taller crop. The concept is good, but the crop is weird to me. I like the light and the white wintery background, sets a mood for the coming season.

For me, there is a bit too much stark white background, but I really like the child. So crisp. Nicely done.

I think I would have liked this better if the collar of the hood wasn't visible, maybe by pulling the fur all around the face for framing. Also, less background with a tighter crop.

This struck me from the moment I saw it. The fur lined hood is a wonderful frame to the face. I wish the overall size of the subject were larger so I could really study the details of the face. Lovely eyes and beautiful creamy complexion. I like the expression of gazing out and possibly daydreaming. Nice indeed.
