I think this image contains everything that people downgrade for here: no black or white point, soft focus, blur, blown hightlights, not following rule of thirds. So we shall see how it does in the scoring.

I love what is possible with lighting! Used a soft filter to even out skin tones and give a generally soft feeling to the image, converted to sepia after playing with levels, a slight burn in a couple of spots, cropped, saved for web.

I want to thank everyone for their comments! While there seems to have been a contingent of voters that really hated it, for the most part, this image was accepted.

To answer some comments:
This was actually an outtake - my camera snapped the image while on a timer when I wasn't ready. But this turned out the best of what I had. The hand is moving - I was brushing something off or moving a hair. I cropped it the way I did for two reasons: I have a tattoo i thought would interfere with the image and I wanted to throw the image off balance. The title refers to the subject's spiritual position, not the physical.
I shot this at my patio door in the morning. I have a dark blue wall behind me. This exagurated (sp?) the lighting conditions and I pushed it a little more (to get bear music's raking light. :))

That'd be "exaggerated"... Not usre what you mean by "pushed it a little more" to get *my* raking light. The light is either raking or it isn't. In this case it is. If you mean you processed to *emphasize" the raking quality of the light, that makes sense. Nice shot btw. I never got back to it before, so this way out-of-the-blue comment comes your way...

a tender study. The light looks bright on the one side and part of the hand. I think I would like it more with the right side of the picture cropped in a little so the small amount of background wasn't showing. I makes the model seem wider, more of an optical illusion than because of the model's shape I fear.

I like the color of this shot and the softness of it. Lighting in the center could be toned down a bit. It seems kind of bright. But overall a nicely done shot.

I love the lighting on this, as well as the pose, the title confuses me a bit, as the pic is off center, and the hand makes it nearly assymetrical. Reguardless great image, good luck

Interesting color, it adds to this image. Good lighting, however tthe model's left seems a little blown out. I like the hair covering the model. Very tastefully done photo.

Soft & nicely lit. Not keen on the one hand - maybe if both hands were in there? That's just me, though - I tend to like more symmetry. Lovely image.

the lighting is nice, not sure I care for the abstraction, seems like the pieces are just not right, like they don't fit exactly.

This is interesting, but the lighting is a little harsh and the cropping could show more of the right side.

interesting effect where the lighting seems both diffuse yet contrasty at the same time. im not a very big fan of soft focus in general but i think it works in this shot.
