this is the first time I have ever done this-it took me a million shots to get one OK entry!

"You Never Notice Me"
The clouds of sorrow cast
a shadow of fear within my home.
I feel the cold bitter blast,
as the tempest rages and groans.
I hide in the dark corner of my room
sheltered from the storm.
I hear the loud thunder booms,
the roar shocks my trembling form.
I long for protection from the afflicting wind.
I long for grace and love to be
my rock, my refuge, my friend.
But peace, you never notice me.
Am I just a forgotten thought
or am I veiled by insecurity?
I want to live where hope is sought,
an yet, you never notice me."

Poetry -

and a challenging image to critique. I wish someone would.
I'm too distracted by the face.

Under-rated. This is so hauntingly sad. If I look at it long enough, I would really end up with goose bumps! Would love to know how you pulled it off.

Mandy - this took a lot of talent to execute and a lot of chutzpah to enter. I knew it was you right away. It's a GREAT shot and speaks to many people on many levels. Keep up the good work!

I'd say you ended up with more than 'ok'. Very moody, heavy image. Spooky. The BW is great with the grainy feel. Nicely done!

Thank you! It probably would have if I knew how to do this technique before the challenge. Even though I know now, it is still so hard with my camera

should have placed much higher.

Very very interesting effect. There is something dark and moody that I really like about this image. Definately like the b/w treatment. I actually think the plug receptacle helps this shot as well. Very nice.

Got my attention. It's very powerful, even without the terrific, disturbing title. Is it a relection in a window? Is that a light switch? Why is it there? Are those knees, in the bottom half of the image? Who never notices you? That's why I like it so much ... it's visually arresting and it raises more questions than it answers. My definition of art. 9

A very good artistic b/w study. Good impact. I would have prefered to see the wood uniterrupted. Good nonetheless. Bumping up.

Wow very well done. like the plug on the wall. It adds a quality to this photo that otherwise may not have been there. The right amount of noise/grain and love the B&W conversion. Well done and good luck in this challenge. <10>

I'm very interested to see how this one does. I gave you a 10. This definately doesn't fall within the spectrum of what I think will get voted to the top because it's too sad, emotional, and the photo has a old and scratchy feel to it. But that's precisely why I like it. Great emotion capture.

This is a wonderful photograph. It is also very sad. I am not sure about the wall sockets - they are a bit distracting, but somehow add to the sense of chaos.

To me, this is both creepy and sad. Creepy because I just got done watching a spooky horror film and sad because of the title. There are three things bother me about this photo. One, the outlet and two, what is it that is over what I assume is a floor board and three, why is there another pair of legs in the picture. They don't seem to belong.

Strong emotional piece, good work with movement. The white spots remind me of darkroom work, I am not sure if they add to the photo.

What an incredible image. This should be hanging in a gallery in London or New York. The emotions are so strong within it that I can hardly tear myself away from it to write about it, let alone express what it's making me feel. I like that th main texture, the main thing that's solid is a weathered piece of wood and this unnoticed girl is a shadow behind it. Black and white perfect for it. Shame about the blown highlights to the right of the bar but doesn't stop it from being a 10.
