The idea and meaning of family should all come down to one starting point, the marriage. There is one universal symbol for marriage, wedding bands. I wanted to portray the basic meaning of marriage that could be understood wherever you are.

I can't take all of the credit for the idea of this shot. There are tons of other shots that I have seen where a mirror is used, so I wanted to try my hand at some. I hope that it does well.

For post processing, I simply adjusted the levels a bit and removed some dust specs that I did not get off of the mirror. Then I cropped it for the Internet.

I like that you preserved the details in the gold of the bands. Very nice!

Control of the light is pretty good with just a couple of hot spots, exposure is about right. Now. Work on the composition a little and this would be a better picture. Centered compositions just don't have enough impact.

well i can't figure out what you've done here...so it is intriguing in that respect. At first i thought it was a mirror image but I think i see 4 different rings which seems odd as a symbol for marriage. anyway, the light refractions from the glass around a couple of the rings are a bit annoying. the centered composition is a bit static. the background color and lighting are terribly bland, though your shadow removal was well done. your focus is very soft. perhaps perusing the previous jewelryadvertisement challenge might provide some useful insight.

Nice representation and a good shot, both.

Universal symbol of love and marriage maybe. But that does not necessarily mean family. I must be missing something. it is a nice photo - well focused and lit. The reflection works nicely. But I just don't get family from it.

maybe try a tigher crop on this image.

Nice shot and good sentiment. I like the reflection idea, but the double reflection shadows are a bit distracting (IMHO) - the single reflections are fine. Maybe this was caused by multiple light sources? Also the highlights are a little overblown. Still, a very nice shot that I like a lot. Just my 2 cents... 7

A pretty image, I would have cropped more closely. I think this would have worked better showing the rings on their owner's hands.

lighting too harsh.

This just is kind of boring to me. The man's ring has nice tone and quality, but the woman's ring is blurred. Overall, it just leaves me kind of blah. Hope this helps.

Mirror shot has a ghost showing around the man's ring reflection - perhaps the lighting was angled wrong?
