Nice interpretation of the challenge. I think it's so nice to see your family support you so much in your photography. I like the tones here, the expressions and the symbols. Maybe a little more light on your dad's face would be my preference, but that's nit picking.

Damn, Joey, you're really coming into your own. You and your images are living proof that it's the photographer, not the tools, that makes the difference. Congrats!

A very unusual & compelling portrait, if a bit Gothic. What I like most about it is that it's interesting ... the photographer is challenging the viewer to think about this image. And the image justifies the effort. That should be encouraged; less pretty pictures & more thinking! Well done. Keep doing it. 9

The DOF seems a bit too shallow; I'd like to see sharp focus on the boy too. I particularly like the lighting. This image suggests that an interesting story is underway and does a good job of capturing the moment. Keep up the great work, Joey!

Crop, compositions, tones, DOF, POV all well done. The look on the father's face - concern mixed with anticipation is great (my interpretation anyway). I can see he's about to move forward. Very well done. 9 - good luck in the challenge!

With all the talk about titles in the forums, I am trying to look at the photos without reading the titles. When I did that here, I had to sit here and let my imagination come up with the story - so this disturbed kid and his psycho dad try to offer me drugs to incapacitate me so they can bury me alive in the woods near the slaughterhouse where they work. - - - Now let me read the title... OMG! I wasn't even close! Sorry. LOL ;-)

dunno why but this image reminds me of an image of CaptainBeefheart by Corbijn
anyway i just like this one (Joey)

on second judgement i notice this comp makes my eyes a bit restless going from u to ure dad (and to even the seeds)and when i cover i half the image the portraits get stronger but i understand it was needed for the story
(and i still like it)

Very nice execution of this very creative idea. Just wish the shovel wasn't so close to his face, it bothers me a little. Like the b/w and contrast and sharpness are dead on.
