Krystal once again...

I am flying to Singapore tomorrow and I will be back on Sunday...

Emotions are always the main staple of my photographs thus, I couldn't let go of this challenge. However, I don't have much time to prepare for it. Krystal is once again an immediate and easy choice.

I asked her to stand close to the aircon. With the white wall as a background, i asked her to show different kinds of emotions. I must say I am not happy with my shots then. I could have done better. I am still my old predictable self and I wanted to try something new. Maybe next time.

This is a risky post-processing. I am aware of DPC's antagonish towards blown-out pictures. Never mind...this is what I can do for now. Now I am happy that I have submitted to this challenge.

Hi! its a nice shot...you give justice to the textures and shades of her hair....thought it was a soft tone the clarity of strands was still there and more over the softness the color adds the weight of the dramatic facial expression of the model....great picture.
by the way iam andrews friend in gingoog. wishing you to see more of your works.

Hello. I am writing in awe of how beautiful your model is. Let me explain it this way: For me she is rather inexpressive in the picture, emotionless, but at the same time I perceive faint fright and disdain, she looks like a fragile ice statue. I really take my hat off for a photographer who can capture so little emotion as brilliantly as to allow it to shine intensely... perhaps that attitude of superiority and vulnerability she portrays is what makes me think your model is so beautiful. Compelled to take a closer look to your picture I saw the aesthetic of Japanese comics, in particular its simplicity, and a question stroke me: How would the composition have been if you used the trick of rotating the picture a bit as they do in Japanese comics?
Anyway, thank you for sharing with us this great photo.

after a bad day yesterday, today headed to an extreme twist. first off...this win! i didn't expect to ribbon as i thought my style has been so predictably boring. but a red....wooooo... this is really great! this is an added "uplift" to my day as I submitted my last 7 spreads for the yearbook to my publisher today. now i have to wait for the digital proof and final proof, respectively and this will give me more time to try something different in my photography. what a way to end my day (it's 9:00 pm now here).

many thanks to all who never get bored of my style of photography.

Well it's really a good shot. I like the expression that's its well related with the framing (leaving some free space) and the white tones of the background and also the tones of the skin. Another interesting detail is the eye that is see-not-see under the hair , very nice.

Another classic capture, Manny. And please don't feel bad for taking the "same old thing." You don't. Each photo is fresh and amazing. Blown out is often rejected on DPC, I feel, simply because it is used improperly. Unlike this photo!

Back to comment... I really like this shot. And an intersting title you've chosen as well.

The composition is great, and the negative space really lifts the image when you consider your title.

The only distraction I find is the complex strap/clothing on her shoulder. The rest of the image is so gentle, quite almost, and that item is very fiddly and detailed.

Well taken.. 9

Easily one of my favorites of the challenge. The muted colors, white BG and negative space work well.
It's very sharp, I find myself wondering how it would look with a gentle application of soft focus

Nice high key effect here, the darkness of her hair making a great contrast. The wisp of hair being blown over the face is a great touch.

And drop dead gorgeous. But I'll try not to award "beauty" points. Okay, it is a very feminine picture which does hint at fragility. There isn't too much in the expression that outwardly suggests that mood but the photo has that feel to it.
The high key is a nice look, the photo is well exposed, and I like the wisps of hair and negative space. If I have to find a nit-pick, it's the apparent shadow just off the shoulder that could not be cloned out or brightened like the rest.

I really like the composition, the direct gaze is also really strong... the wisps of hair blowing is a perfect final touch.

beautiful girl as well as a beautiful image. I like the slightly hidden face and how she is stuck in the corner of the picture is if fearful of injury due to her fragility. Great.

Woa! In a relatively mediocre challenge, this shot immediately stands out. I'm not sure this clearly portrays an emotion or a mood, her look is quite enigmatic, but I'll overlook that. Superbly lit, great composition, wonderful model, great skin tones, hair works well... this is perfection.

Lovely pose and the hair strands are well placed. the lighting is a bit abrupt, imho, particularly around the left cheek. but i like this enough to rate 10, one of five in the challenge

The wisps of hair really make this photo for me. You've found a truly beautiful model, and I think you've really captured fragility...yeah...fragility (if that's a word, but you know what I mean). The only gripe I have is that the background is so stark white. A beautiful shot though. I love the positioning.

05/02/2005 08:49:09 PM
Wow Excellent. She deffinately stands out to be innocent and fragile from the look on her face. Tthe total white right makes it seem like I have to look toward her. For example, If I stare at the white my eyes want to drift in too view her face and feels like if I don't they will burn up, as if I was stareing at the sun. This is a positive comment. I like it.

Beautiful image. Wonderful contrast. Great eye contact. Beautiful model. Without looking at the title, this could invoke many different moods for me, including 'interest', 'sadness', 'loneliness', 'sorrow', as well as many others. I love the composition, with her hair blowing across her face. This helps define her face against the white background. I'm not a fan of white backgrounds, but this works very nicely, and I'm sure this will be haning on someone's wall, if it is not already. <7>
