This kid needs one more strike to win. Unfortunately, the batter drives in two runners and the game ends in a tie. Fluke shot to see if I could get a clear shot through a chain link fence. It worked for me, but it was also my last shot on my card. I read the title for this challenge the night after I took this shot and knew it was the one to submit.

A different angle would give a better effect and you wouldnt have that distracting blurry object.

I like this photo but it's not minimalism

Sorry I dont get the minimalism here, and I think this helmet in the front is not helping the picture

doesn't really say minimal to me.
I can also see the real ball in the pitchers hand.
Nice idea which would have scored higher from me in another challenge
good luck though

I like the look on the boy's face.

great DOF and angle
04/30/2005 05:09:10 PM
bit blury...

Really like this, though I'm not convinced it fits the Minimalism challenge very well. In terms of composition I think I'd have prefered if the batter's head was further to the left in the shot, just to space things out.

IMO, this would have been a great picture except for the helmet in the foreground. The colors are nice, and the expression on the pitchers face is great.

I love the look of concentration in the pitchers face, priceless

good use of focus to make your subject stand out with a "busy" shot

If it wasn't for the helmet in the forground, this would be excellant. good job on the depth of feild.

what is that big black blur center stage? another kids head? Probably not the best object to include in the framing.
04/29/2005 05:19:35 PM
the batters helmut is too distracting from the rest of the shot...as is the bright yellow sign in the back.....just one photographers opinion
04/29/2005 10:26:35 AM
interesting use of theme

Would of like to see the hat in focus and less going on in the background.
04/29/2005 12:39:54 AM
not minimalism

im guessing the subject is the pitcher? the big blurry head is a distraction I think lol and my eyes go to that bright yellow sign.

Like the shot, but maybe a half a step to the right putting the helmet between the two players might help. Where the helmet is in this shot is too distracting, my eye keeps going to the helmet.

this is nice and very different....a 10 from me.....without a doubt!

The out of focus helmet is really distracting

Very nice job of using DOF to seperate the main object from the rest of the image. <8>
