I decided to join this site after seeing this picture. The texture of the leaves looks so real, the plant appears 3D!

At first? =)

So, are you using a 24/7 or a 16/8 light cycle? Do you have alternating nodes yet? Have you been able to determine the sex yet? Give me a call when its time to harvest!!

It's an awesome picture!!
04/26/2005 07:43:58 PM
wow, this is incredibly beautiful. perfect job with the lighting.

nice texture and light.

some people posted here better beware of a razzia in the near future:)

This is tremendous Aleks - if it hadn't been for that border I'd have been completely convinced this was JJBeguin's work. Wonderfully done.
04/26/2005 04:13:43 AM
Yes, it's a plant - but really, this was very underrated. I've not seen such subtle lighting and processing in a long while.

This really pops out of the shot. Some may dislike the center composition but it's almost symmetrical to work. I really like it.

Very nice display of... hibiscus ;-) Man, I'm hungry...

This looks suspiciously like marijuana, nice dark shot though, I like the contrast between the green and the background 8

This took my breath away! An absolutely wonderful piece of art and a deserved blue for me. The treatment is simply an embellishment of an already supreme photo, so hats off to you for some masterful work. Powerful use of centering too. A stunning [10]

Beautiful subtle light. The centered subject, which I usually think of as a 'no', is a 'yes' in this image. I love the detail of the and the moody light.
04/25/2005 01:36:17 PM
Very good, the lighting is excelent!
04/25/2005 10:44:20 AM
superb lighting
04/25/2005 12:11:58 AM
Texas might not be the best place to be taking that photo ... nice job lighting it.
04/24/2005 10:43:35 PM
Amazing lighting. I hope once the voting is done we can find out how you created this effect.
04/24/2005 10:29:42 PM
Uh huh, looks like something else. :-)
04/24/2005 06:07:15 PM
Makes me think of an old lithograph of a plant.
04/24/2005 03:20:14 PM
The lighting on this make it very dramatic. Sure wich it had been blooming.
04/24/2005 06:00:21 AM

04/24/2005 01:54:40 AM

Great lighting and colours hope they don't DQ you.
04/21/2005 10:15:26 PM
This is incredible. I love it! Amazing lighting effect and the use of a black background adds an awesome aura to this image. Came back to put this to a 10.
04/21/2005 05:23:43 PM
Right on! Groovy, far out. Ten, man!
04/21/2005 05:11:15 PM
Oh marvellous - we haven't had one of these subdued masterpieces in a while - and this one's special. It has a quality of Escher-like draughtsmanship to it: I don't mean weirdness, obvisouly, but that pure facility he had with technique. One day i'll take grown-up photographs like this.
04/21/2005 10:31:18 AM
What beautiful greens, I love the subtle lighting too.
04/21/2005 09:59:37 AM
Nice pot plant! But besides that well done photo good colour, like the background and . . .I'm starting to get the munchies . . .10
04/21/2005 06:27:44 AM

04/20/2005 10:58:40 PM

04/20/2005 10:35:48 PM
Yet another one of those shots in this challenge that is realistic beyond belief. Very nice detail accompanied by such understated lighting, very neat effect. Super, super job! (I normally wouldn't care for such a symmetrical compositon, but this works.)
04/20/2005 06:20:34 PM
Wonderful!
04/20/2005 04:24:35 PM
Dark green on black works very well here. Great lighting :)
04/20/2005 01:31:31 PM
Beautiful portrait of a plant! :)
04/20/2005 12:50:56 PM
Simply beautiful! The green tones, the black background, soft image and placement of subject all work wonderfully..9
04/20/2005 07:46:04 AM
So many people slame photos with centered composition, this is a shining
example of why people should rule of thirds as a guideline not a law.
This just would not look as good if you followed the rule of thirds!
Lighting is incredible and it is tack sharp! Beatiful! 10
04/19/2005 08:29:55 PM
I love the simplicity of this shot. The lighting and highlights are superb, and the constrast with the background is striking.
04/19/2005 03:56:13 PM

04/19/2005 04:44:20 AM
I like the simplistic (and yet, at the same time not so) nature of this shot.
04/19/2005 04:41:52 AM
I like this - my kind of photo!
04/19/2005 02:45:11 AM
