These "pillars" protruded from the top of an office building. I rotated it 90 degrees.

Post processing:
Rotated 90 degrees clockwise,
Cropped,
Auto Levels,
Applied Noiseware filter,
Resized,
Converted to Lab Mode,
Applied USM to the Lightness channel, &
Saved for web.

Nope, no "brushing". I added my post processing steps to the photo description.

People wanted to see the entire building, so I posted a shot I took a year ago below. The photo I submitted was taken during the challenge dates.

beautiful - like so many have said before me. very very graphic, stark and striking colour balance. i love the totally flat textureless sky - does just right for the composition (any brushing? please say "no"!). bye, fred.

Great, stark, simple image. The E really looks trapped in that roofline. This is, I think, the image in the challenge that most screams "this is a photo of an accidental letter"!

Thank you, Dana, and thanks for the comment left on my self portrait. I really didn't expect this photo to do so well. I went to the park and took a ton of nature shots, but wasn't impressed with any of them. Then I drove downtown to look for some "letters" around the capital and I took "bluE-grEEn" right after I stepped out of the car. And that was it, didn't even walk over to the capital.

Didn't care for this at first, but the more I see it the better I like it. I like the color saturation and the contrast between building (?) and sky. Very clean and simple lines.
