 These two fools are Sidd (Bull Mastiff) and Li'Kitty Cheetah 3000 (Bengal) and they are total sun worshippers. They love laying in the sun and I saw the perfect opportunity to take a picture. I was lucky to get a couple of shots off before Sidd came over to see what I was doing (and smear my lens with her nose. Again.).
Editing:
Adjusted levels (about 29/1.54/255)
Color Balance to remove some of the extreme
orange/red coloration by adding 10% blue and
cyan to shadows, highlights, and mid-tones
Increased Saturation by 5%
Decreased Brightness by 5%
Cloned out nose of our other dog, Murgen (Doberman
Pinscher), in the bottom right corner.
Cloned out edge of door and door knob beside
Sidd's head.
Took a sample of Sidd's darker coat and applied it
with the brush tool to the slightly blown out
areas on Sidd in a new layer. Decreased
saturation of that layer to 10% and merged
down.
Resized image.
Unsharp mask: Amount 100%, Radius 0.3, Threshold 0
Sharpen tool (10%) on all of Li'Kitty Cheetah 3000
and Sidd's face.
Saved for web.

I absolutely LOVE this picture! I wish I could get a shot that good of my guys (2 dogs,1 cat) without my puppy trying to eat the cat! (The pup is a mastiff cross,probably as big as yours).

I absolutely love this shot! The first thing that caught my eye was this cat's gorgeous coat, never seen this breed before (not just a tabby), quite stunning. The next I saw was the contrasting size and roughness of the mastiff. The warm light beautifully envelopes the obvious sun-worshipers and the darkness only exemplifies that this is the one comfy warm spot to stake claim to. The circle in the rug pattern contains kitty neatly. It is a gorgeous study in contrasts of light and dark, slick/soft and rough, peace and attentiveness. Very well titled. Congrats!!

I didn't get to this one before the challenge ended so I'll do it now. I love this shot, I gave this shot an 8 originally but if I had gotten back to it would have bumped it up, not sure if all the way to 10 but at least to a 9 but you didn't need me ;)

What got to me about the shot was simply the dark shadow in front of his leg. It's almost as if the body came out of nowhere, the rest of the shot is wonderful. I know it's a nit picky thing and I'm sure you just want to bask in your glory like they are basking in their sunlight and fame, so Congrats and job well done. Now, go give them some treats! :)

Well done this shot rated an 8 becaue it is difficult to get one animal in the shot let alone 2 having the background black makes the shot very dramatic.

Powerful image, marred IMO by shadows that are a bit too blocked up. If i coudl see just a tad of separation of the right sides of the animals from the empty BG the image would gain a point. really sweet shot.

What a loving combo. I always maintain that dogs are better model because they cooperate. However, here you have captured cat and dog in such a wonderful family shot. Good work. Bumping up.

Very pretty duo you've got there! Its the first time i see a cat with a fur like that. Beautiful. I like the simple composition of this shot. Its peaceful, and with both animals relaxed, it gives a very friendly and calm mood. Colours are rich as well, which gives some warmth to the shot. I find the carpet a bit distracting with the dark background, separating the pic in a wierd fashion. A little bit more lighting on the animal's left part of the face could've helped slightly, as they seem to be drawn out of the pic. I really like it, good work! 7

Interesting. Lighting is dramatic. The bottom of the boxers foot showing is the only drawback I see here. I think this would have been perfect if cropped right behind the cat leaving out the boxers leg al together.

Great, but I personnaly think that you should have crop the blue carpet. The picture should still finish with a very good score. Good luck.

Wonderful lighting makes this so special. I like the shadow on the dog's right hand side and the fact that they are such opposites but seem totally content with each other. Colors are great, just one small (very small) complaint would be the rug, I wish it was darker.

Just beautiful...has the feel of an "Old Masters" portrait. Lovely use of shadow.

Wow, great job ! A ribbon contender to please both cat and dog camps. Great use of shadow and light. Love the power of your dog and the serenity of your cat. What deep colors and those cat stripes are something else. Should sell copies to vets, PETCO, etc. Good luck on this ribbon submission. -10-

This is an excellent photo..the sun on the two of them gives it a golden soft tone..the dog's expression is very noble; and the colors of the cat's coat go well in this picture. I like the intensity of the shadows..9
