I remember this shot, gave it an 8 all those years ago, would still give it an 8 today even though the standards have changed.

I am soooooooo in love - anytime George wants to run away from home ........ (pack his suitcase and buy him a ticket to Michigan!)

this is from a woman who thinks the best way to have children is to let your sisters do it, and dogs were meant to live at someone else's house.

George is beautiful (handsome? dignified? generous? kind? loving?)

It is your composition, background choice, and lighting which caught my eye. I truly loved this picture; wasn't able to vote, but would have given it at least a 9 - and more likely, a 10.

One of my two favorites! I would have taken out that stray hail on the ear, and the bit of archetecture showing just behind the ear. Lighting and pose, superb. Congratulations!

Ya know...I like that you just took the picture and didn't go on and on and ON about all the fine tuning required to make the shot "better." Maybe you did...but I like that you just took a great shot and turned it in...bravo...

Wonderful light - it really sets the mood. A classic portrait. Only improvement I can see is a slight crop off the bottom to hide the gray bar in the bottom right corner.

This is a beautiful shot of this dog. I think a portrait mode composition would have worked better and I think using the rule of thirds would have made it more interesting than the centered approach. As composed, the equal balance between dog below his head and space above his head gives me a "chopped" impression on the dogs body--you want to see more. Still, very nice lighting and capture (7)

Fine fellow. The lighting works really well to bring out his softness.

The background is not attractive, but sufficiently dark and blurred to not be a problem. Your dog is beautiful and I like the soft, natural light. I would prefer it if he/she was looking at the camera, or at least a little more in "my" direction.

I thought the lighting and pose won it for this image and worth 10

Awwwwwwwwwww, George is beautiful! How many treats did he get for being so patient? LOL!

I love this shot, just one tiny little thing kept it from being perfect and I originally scored it at a 9 but the one thing is so tiny I'm going to overlook it and make this a 10. Oh, the one thing? The white stray hair on his ear. :)

So much to like here. Lighting is terrific, if a tad harsh on the muzzle. The muted tonalities suit well. Composition seems a bit off to me, maybe crop a tad left and top, I'm not sure. Strong entry.

This is excellent. the lighting. the dogs expression. colour, detail , focus, pose, all spot on. One niggle point is the small grey line at the bottom right

This is a beautiful portrait. Great lighting, composition, DOF and a very handsome looking animal. The best shot I have seen to date and will give this a temporary score of 8 and I will definitely revisit this one.

Good luck to you in the challenge.... and I do hope the other voters appreciate the beauty of this submission and reward you accordingly.
