oh cool, an aussie coin. Where did you get that from?

I thought this would do better. Humm, ya just don't know around here.
Still it's a good shot, great light.

Interesting use of the coin on the chess board. Nice composition and contrast of colors.

Great depth of field! I'm not sure the lighting is that great, but this is a very nice picture - 10

I love this photo! The depth of view and the detail of the subject really catch my eye. Great idea and well done!
05/18/2002 08:36:00 PM
The blurriness of the background forces the focus to the coin, I think. Good job, I like this picture.

Nice composition, good job on using that depth of field. I like the angle, the photo is very eye catching. The only thing I would have tried differently would be to get more of the reflection into the photo, but can't really see from here what that would have looked like.

There's excellent detail on the coin and the chess set makes an interesting background.

My best color shot this week, one of my 5 best and a 10.

Originality, technical quality and overall composition make this one of my 5 best.

Composition-good job bringing the eye to the coin. Nice use of diagonal lines, selective DOF to isolate the subject. Background-Subject to background relationship may be misunderstood by some. Camera Work/Technical- What can I say its very good! Overall Opinion- A good shot. No big emotional thing happening, but the overall technical outweighs that part. The use of a foreign coin does bring a lot of interest to it and in fact may tie the background in by featuring a queen. Overall I like it. ... 8.

that bitch be crazy...seriously though the lighting is great here, and the composition is one of a kind

OK, this is going to sound hypercritical (like I couldn't think of anything else to say) and in some respects, I guess it is. I can't see anything about the photo I would "fix". Nice focal depth, good lighting and contrast, etc. But the photo as a whole just doesn't do it for me. That's not doing anything to my score (it's very high), but I thought you might like to know. That's just a personal thing and you are certainly welcome to ignore it.

Nice lighting. I like the reflection.

OK, I KNOW you are probably hearing a ton of comments about how good this would be for next weeks challenge, so I wont go there. Instead, I'll say that this is an excellent photo, great dof and clarity on the coin. I like how the coin's reflection was contained within the dark square. Well Done!

Very nice lighting on this ne. the contrast is actually excellent... the brown/tan of the chess set seems more dramatic for the coin.
05/13/2002 05:22:00 PM
did not like it, even when it was a thumb nail
05/13/2002 03:56:00 PM
