poor thing, I wanted to find it and help him. :) great photo.

Poor turtle! I always feel so sorry for them in this position! What a cruel joke Mother Nature played on turtles! I rate this photograph a 9, but please be nice to the turtles from now on. As for a critical comment, the horizon is a big off centered, not fully at the horizontal line. I suggest using a tripod. -NBT

So Did you help the poor critter?

very cool, the fact that it is a turtle makes it even better, i am tired of seeing people's pets like dogs and cats all the time.

I'm guessing you couldn't do anything about it, but I would REALLY love this shot if that fence wasn't in the background. I also don't know if you have a big enough image to do this with -- but I wonder how it would look if it were cropped vertically (in effect, cutting the left half of the image out of the picture). That would let you get a little bit of a closer shot on the tortoise's head. (The more I look at it that way, the more I'd personally like it -- maybe I'll talk to you baout getting a copy when the voting's over.) ;-)

Awesome subject.

Wonderful image, good use of the theme. Hope you turned him back over after you were done :)
05/15/2002 11:41:00 AM
This is a classic. I hope you helped him out.
05/15/2002 08:56:00 AM
I hope you righted him/her after the photos

Awww...
05/14/2002 08:12:00 PM
this is cruel and unusual punishment

Sure glad I didn't travel to the desert to take a shot of a tortoise. I would have been really embarassed! Nice composition and color.

Poor Turtle.
05/14/2002 11:12:00 AM

Poor thing. Great picture though.

Heh heh heh... Hope you turned her back over when you were done. You'll be getting a visit from PETA shortly. The first set of rails makes a great bg, but I'm not sure about the second set and horizon visible beneath. Small nits. Nice work!
05/13/2002 10:29:00 PM
No one can argue this subject matter!
Poor guy..............
Nice composition, good lighting for what looks like a bright day. You were able to keep the highlights in check quite well. Good Job.
05/13/2002 08:33:00 PM
I hate it when this happens. ;-)

I think the fence could have been straigher.
05/13/2002 04:47:00 PM
The photo isn't very special but the idea is brilliant. What could be more "upside-down"? 8 from me this time, therefore ranking in the top 5.
05/13/2002 04:47:00 PM
they can help themselves
05/13/2002 02:28:00 PM
poor thing, hope somebody helped him, nice photo
05/13/2002 01:47:00 PM
I feel sorry for the poor guy :( this is, however, a very nice photo for this challenge :)
05/13/2002 01:18:00 PM

05/13/2002 12:39:00 PM
poor tortoise!
05/13/2002 10:33:00 AM
I love the shot but I hope he bite the crap out of you after the photo. Pay back is only fair - 8
05/13/2002 10:13:00 AM
Please tell me you didn't turn this turnle on its back just for this photo. I'm really hoping you didn't.
05/13/2002 10:12:00 AM
Poor baby!
05/13/2002 08:59:00 AM

Poor guy! I hope you helped him!
05/13/2002 07:39:00 AM
the por thing, is it alive
05/13/2002 07:18:00 AM
Oh I hope this was just for a picture and you helped the poor turtle. It disturbs me a bit.
05/13/2002 03:13:00 PM
Oh is this a HOOT. Creative! Clever! Clean, clear shot, with good color, dof.
NICE work
05/13/2002 06:12:00 AM
i would have set it on fire
05/13/2002 02:24:00 AM
Well, it's a cool photo, but has an element of cruelty to it. I find full sunlight very harsh to look at, too... the shadows are too sharp and black.
05/13/2002 12:10:00 AM
A turtle was my first thought all week. I love this photo. The color and clarity are great. The only issue I see is the fence is distracting. Nice job.
