Although not a complete portrait the sepia tone adds a zest to make this stare very dynamic. The lighting is very comfortable, the pupils impressive and their catchlights superb to bring out the liquid nature. Bumping up because to me this is image has enough to convey character.

i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image to try to figure out what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.

i'm not quite sure how you arrived at this image--i assume from the title that you shot it through a mirror. it is a very interesting crop you've chosen. it's a shame your focus is on the soft side; that's just seems a bit out of kilter, considering the effort you made to draw us into your eyes. the soft focus also takes away from the range of tones in your face, which i believe would add even more character to the image. but, then again, what the hell do i know? i shoot bugs and blurry taxis. this is probably exactly what you were aiming for. good luck, and thanks for sharing!

Seems to be either focus or motion blur issues in this image... I'm also picking up a green color cast which feels abnormal.
