Challenge: Pain (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S5000 Z
Location: Winter Haven, FL
Date: Feb 6, 2005
Date Uploaded: Feb 6, 2005

This might not appear very painful to others, but for me the lost of my best friend is pain. I know it isn't the most artistic photo but it means alot to me and conveys my feelings, and as far as I'm concerned that is art.

The picture was taken indoors with simple lighting, and had no post editing.

Powerful piece of work here. I agree that the arm in the foreground is a bit distracting, but it also "hides" the grieving person's identity, so I see pros and cons to the crop. I immediately "felt" emotion when I saw this shot - it's filled to overflowing with it. And I agree... If you convey an emotion to your viewers, then you've successfully achieved art. Nice shot and I'm sorry for your loss.

I really like this shot, mostly for the emotive nature of it. What I find very distracting is the arm in the foreground and I really want to deduct for that, but I can't. For the story it tells, 9

I lost two friends in an accident before, I know how that feels and this photo brought that back. Very painful.

This is such a sad picture! There's such a "realness" to it, and that kind of pain goes deep! The picture is nicely done. It's sharp and the contrast and lighting is good. Good luck!

I think this does a good job of meeting the challenge, but I'd like to see more of the mourner.

Very sad. I think it's a little too busy though. Perhaps just one picture of the boy along with the paper would have said enough.

My friend just lost her son in a car accident a few weeks ago and her other son is still in the ICU. So sorry for your loss.
