 OMG this was fun to do! I talked my 11 year old into sitting for me, even though he knew I would be planting kisses all over his face. After taking about a dozen shots (I used the 50mm 1.8 lens), and coming up with four I really liked, I decided on this one.

I desaturated the image using a PS action called Duotone Dreams, and then I used the history brush to paint back in the lip prints I made on his face (I went back over the lip prints with lipstick to make them stand out before I shot). Then I used the eyedropper to get the right color and the paintbrush to paint over the lips to even out the color just a little because it was a little bit splotchy. I desaturated all the yellows again, because I inevitably got some skin back into the shot with the history brush. It was time consuming. Then I shifted the hue of the lipstick to a more pink color (it was a hot pink, but I was afraid it was a little too magenta) so that softened it a bit. I smoothed out some folds in the background with the blur tool and softened the lip prints with it as well. I applied a USM and then cropped the image some, and there you have it. Of course, I have high hopes for it, but even if it crashes it was fun and my son and I had a great time with it! :o)

Well done! Very refreshing to see this picture: a real person and great sense of humour. It really shows up the many artificial/melodramatic entries that appeared in this challenge. Should have done better.

Defanetly is a good model, just look at those beautifull bedroom eyes! He is going to break a lot of hearts! Your notes are excellent here on the process you photo shopped this.. Great job!

Creative idea. Focus is very sharp where it needs to be, and I like the look on this kids face. Very natural. To me the lip prints almost look like you painted them on in PS. For some reason they don't look too real. Nice photo.

So far this is my favorite. There is however one thing that really bothers me, and its the fact that there is no randomness to the kisses. It would be better if they werent all lined up the way they are. But this is a personal opinion that wont influence the score. The idea, execution and originality are excellent, and the facial expression is key! Congrats on this, i hope to see it on the homepage for DPC next week. 10

He's such a cutie. I love the detail in his eyes. The lip prints almost dont look real because they're so smooth. This doesn't take away from the photo at all though. Great idea and wonderfully done.

You got my 10. This SO stands out ahove every other image in the challenge for its emotional purity. I hope it doesn't get scored down for the relative scarcity of pink in the image.
