Wonderful detail and dof.

Pretty. I like this idea. I'm not sure that the centering works though, and I might have cropped it a little tiny bit tighter even.

Good interpitation of the challenge. Not a particularly pretty picture.

Lovely detail in the foreground, shame you couldn#t have got more depth of field to keep all of the pole in focus.

Nice clarity and DOF.

I like it. It really gives a feeling of life around the pier. You have controlled the depth of field to draw attention to the most interesting portion of the scene. Did you get wet taking the picture?

A watertight camera would and being slightly underwater would make this a better shot, just kidding. Cool photo the depth of field gives it a sense of distance to the pier.

Wonderful focus. I can almost smell the sea!

fun idea. Sharp image most of the way up, but a little blurryat the top of the post.

could you have increased depth of field? -with longer exposure/smaller aperture? were you at maximum fstop? - check the 'squirrel escape route' entry

nice side lighting -- like the way the nearer barnacles sort of blend into just a texture as you get further away from the focal point -- don't now what to suggest to make it a better image -- maybe a slightly less centered composition?

ocean life! this is a successful, almost abstract image.

I really like your perspective on this photo. The detail in the foreground is great! I can also definitely tell that I am looking up :) I have also, during preparation for this challenge, learned how to achieve this shot and maintain proper depth of field to keep everything in focus. You simply have to step back about 18" from this pole. You don't have to put yor camera right on it. Nice job!

I don't have a comment that is anywhere near helpful. I love this photo. great colors, textures, details and just the right amount of icky.

You hafta know the feet got wet on this one. Interesting shot and from about as low to the ground or sea as you can get.
