This was a totally unexpected capture. I have 3 birdhouses in my backyard. This one is in the middle. One of the others had just been used by some wrens and the brood had left. the other one had been inhabited by blue birds. 6 eggs were laid but only one had hatched. I suspect the others had not been fertilized. The single chick had just left the nest 2 days prior. I cleaned the birdhouse so it would be ready for the next family which usually takes several weeks before the new inhabitants start the nest building. This morning I was in my yard taking some other pictures. I just happened to turn my head towards the birdhouses to find a male and female blue birds already beginning a new nest in the middle bird house of which I had removed some twigs that were placed by some wrens that never returned to make a nest just 1 day before. I do not know if these were the same bluebirds that were in the other nest or these were new tenants. I look forward to watching the new family grow.

Congratulations Larry! What an amazing capture. Would be great for many challenges in the wing span but with the shadow centered and busy birds all around, this is super.
