again?

The subject of this image just does not do a lot for me.

nice and simple with a good composition

The shot looks massive from your angle. The lighting is pretty intriguing (very light sky, but dark post). Very well done.

Certianly the best of it's kind in this challenge. Very nice light and lines.

A little "busy", but good focus.

strong composition here, could you have sqeezed some more depth of field here - see 'squirrel escape route' entry.

thats come out pretty well, I'm sure you have had plenty of comments that its cliched but that doesn't mena its a bad picture.
I personally would have gone around the post a bit more so you had the two sets of cables coming in at angles, like a Y. Does that make sense?

Nicely done.

to me this shot is bad, very bad, but that is only because of all the power lines

Love the wood pole against the harshness of the wires.... very intense
04/29/2002 01:23:00 PM
subject wasnt very well lit.

I really like in-focus/out-of-focus pictures, so maybe this is just my own personal "thing", but the only suggestion that I can give here is that it would have been nice to have gotten the pole more in focus, even if that meant using the macro feature to get the base in focus, and everything else more blurred. Then again, a lot of people don't seem to appreciate that style, so my suggestion is probably bad. Nice coloring on the sky - it's hard to get a rich blue color, yet get the clouds that nice as well, yet still have the pole lit enough to have detail and texture. Good job overall.

interesting composition

as i mentioned on someone elses picture, i am not a fan of power lines. just a personal preference.

Nice sky. Did you try rotating the picture so that the vertical lines on the right were parallel to the side of the frame?

This is a good interpretation of this challenge. Good depth of field is difficult to achieve on a shot like this one. I was successful on shots of this nature by setting my camera to macro mode and then using aperture priority to get the smallest aperture possible. Also, if you would step back about a foot from the pole so the the camera lens is not right up against it, you would get the clean focus all the way up... Play with this concept some and see what you think :) See the shot in this challenge called "Power" to get an idea of what I mean by stepping back from the subject a little.. I believe this shot perfectly describes my notes to you...

seems very busy without a real point

A little more depth of field would have made this a better photo.
