Very simple, really. Just brought a high folding stool to the beach and sat my wife on it (I wanted her feet to be suspended in the air). Then placed the can some 20 feet apart, carefully aligned my phone (I used my phone since it was easier to place the lens really low and achieve huge DOF) and clicked. Oh yes, for full disclosure, I cheated, my wife's name is Irina, not Jean. I hope I won't be disqualified for it.

I should've taken a "behind-the-scenes" photo from a different POV to expose the setup, but I didn't think of it at the time. But here's a misaligned outtake where the stool is visible

Great as always.
The aperture is not really important here. What's important is that the focal length in the phone camera is tiny, 4mm or so, and the DOF scales as inverse square of it.
