from last place to second... that is quite an imporvement.

way to go!

I wanted to use the title Atlas Shrugged, as in the Ayn Rand book, but I just put something a little more normal. When I lied on the ground to take the pic. People were just passing by looking at me for a quick glance. If I wasn't in NYC, then I would have probably caught a beat down!

Nicely framed. More detail on the statue would've been nicer.

I like the idea here, but I wish the picture was more well-balanced. You're pointing a little too much to the left.
05/04/2002 10:39:00 PM
no offence but i seen this shot in a textbook
05/04/2002 12:18:00 PM
Nice find!

A strong Ground up shot. Well composed and exposed.
05/03/2002 11:10:00 AM
Incredible subject. The framing effect is great.
05/03/2002 07:12:00 AM
I like the composition, angle, subject, and how it meets the challenge.
05/02/2002 03:37:00 PM
Simply brilliant
05/02/2002 01:40:00 PM
A well thought out piece. Nice work.

classic

This had a lot of potential to be one of my favorites if you could have focused mor on the statue and less on the building. Tall buildings are a dime a dozen but interesting sculptures are unique. Either way I like the photo..just wished for a slightley different perspective.

This is good work. One of my faves!
04/30/2002 05:18:00 PM
good composition just over-cropped, good submission
04/30/2002 12:57:00 PM
I love it. I predict this to win the challenge, a bit more detail on the statue instead of dark patches would be nice though.
04/30/2002 12:32:00 PM
Was there any way of photographing this w/out a building in the background? Probably not, but worth asking. Like the idea by the way, but the statue is a little to dark in places. Use a flash or different time of day?
04/30/2002 09:53:00 AM
This is nice! This is one of the best 'depth of field' shots I have seen in this challenge. Your focus is clean all the way to the top. Nice job!
04/30/2002 09:39:00 AM
I like this! Very nice how you not only caught "up", but it is nicely framed with the sculpture.
04/30/2002 05:26:00 AM
I like the way you have composed the picture
04/29/2002 08:53:00 PM
Great perspective! This is a majestic looking photo.
04/29/2002 05:56:00 PM
Now we're talking. Here's a great shot and very well within topic. 10.
04/29/2002 05:42:00 PM
Interesting Composition.
04/29/2002 03:06:00 PM
Cool shot...
04/29/2002 03:03:00 PM
Nice composition. I can't quite determine if I like the cool tone to it or not -- I think I want the building to be a little warmer, but I don't think it's too possible given the site rules.
04/29/2002 03:01:00 PM
I really liked this shot.
04/29/2002 02:15:00 PM
Interesting concept. Are the shadows on the statue underexposed, or is it just my monitor?
04/29/2002 01:59:00 PM
AWESOME framing! This photo is intense!
04/29/2002 01:52:00 PM
Clever!
04/29/2002 01:34:00 PM
i really like the subject, especially with the building in the background, but i wonder if this could have been taken at a different time during the day to make the lighting more complimentary
04/29/2002 12:04:00 PM
This is a very strong (no pun intended) photograph.
04/29/2002 10:41:00 AM
very nice composition, would like to see the sky cropped more, but still very nice!
04/29/2002 10:11:00 AM
this is actually kinda neat.
04/29/2002 09:13:00 AM
just a tad offcenter, really sweet idea and good example of from the ground up
04/29/2002 08:33:00 AM
Interesting use of the statue for a frame, not sure I really want to be looking up there though...
04/29/2002 07:52:00 AM
atlas shruged
04/29/2002 06:50:00 AM
who said buildings are boring :) Nice framing
04/29/2002 03:05:00 AM
fantastic shot. I can't say anything else....
04/29/2002 01:18:00 AM
Nice framing of the building in the sculpture.
04/29/2002 01:06:00 AM
Nice shot. I like the exposure. I rated this very high. I think you are in contention for a ribbon.
04/29/2002 12:39:00 AM
I've seen this so many times but your perspective kicks the crap out of the other compositions.
