Challenge: Old Movie Stills (Standard Editing)

This was my second attempt to make an "old movie still". The first one that I shot a week earlier, was OK, but I thought it lacked some cinematic drama, so I invited a different couple of friends the following weekend for another take. I liked this one more, so I used it here. Not to waste the first shot, I put it in the "Low key" challenge )). Observant people would notice that both shots feature the same hats :).

I had really hard time choosing between the B&W and the color version

I actually like the color version more, but I thought in this challenge the B&W would probably do better as looking more "vintage".

p.s. Thank you for the votes! ...except for that one 1 without which it could've been my new PB. Based on the huge gap between the average participants' and non-participants' scores, it was one of participants in this challenge. I wonder what got that person so upset, is it the smoking part? I don't know how anyone can watch old movies it they can't stand the sight of people smoking :)

Excellent. Oddly enough, I forgot to vote on this challenge - it happens sometimes, but I would have marked 9 (hmm, again the tree on the left). The 1 mark is quite interesting so to speak ; one would think that the interest and appreciation of good photography surpasses the desire to win by all means.

On second look, the color variant is spectacular - the light on the man hands and face deserves applause.

There's no way this didn't have the Lev Stamp all over it! That lighting! See? I told you it was the LevT Challenge! :D

I love this. Perfect lighting... perfect props... and models!

If it makes you feel any better, if that "One Vote" person hadn't voted, this would only have placed second in your lineup... not first.

32 votes times 7.5938 = 243
minus one... is 242 divided by 31 votes = 7.8065

Your highest is a whopping 7.8557 !!

Congratulations anyway...

Great shot - congratulations. Best of the bunch. Just a thought: could it perhaps be that the "1" was actually entered accidentally, by a user who used the keyboard and intended to given you a 10? It's certainly a nicer thought than thinking this was done intentionally ...

Nice image and 2 blue ribbons from this shoot. Wow
Your work is impeccable. Good choice of B&W for this challange.

This was definitely the standout entry in this challenge. It is so realistic and believable as a film noir. We all agree that those low votes are irritating and malicious. If someone feels that strongly they should have the courage to stick up for their opinion and write a critique to explain their reasoning. They owe the artist at least that.
