Many thanks for the appreciation and nice comments.
To nam: never crossed my mind to put the "real life" image on the left side. streetpigeoncomment was very accurate and much better than I'd do it since what I had to say was said in the image. The scratched texture had to be there; the bruises and scars one's soul accumulates.
To Neat: I never enter this image before but had plenty of versions on the subject of "man-alone"

I have to say that I am pleased that a photo taken with an iphone and quite straightforward processing can get some accolades proving that the most important camera is the one in hand.

The camera doesn’t see the eye does. I have to admit I never thought of placing the entry side by side like you have. That was one of the reasons you also scored so well, subject matter helped too. It’s funny I was sure I had seen this gentleman before. Wouldn’t it be lovely if you met him again and handed him this photo.

Congratulations on a new personal best and by a lot. Now I recall that you were the photographer, but at the time I did not know. I’m pretty sure you have entered a similar photo before.

This was one of those photos that as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the winner!

A fascinating appraisal across time. The man, elderly and almost biblical, seems to reflect on his life in different eras, marveling almost on who he really is. The processing of the black and white to age it is crucial to its fullness, and adroitly managed. The setting is simple enough to work in both time periods. A mesmerizing image.
One of three favorites of the challenge.

This is probably my top pick. I wish there wasn't the scratched texture on the bw side - the black and white is enough for a story. Speaking of which, I'd love to know what you were thinking when you put this together . . . what made you decide to put BW on the left and color on the right? I can imagine a story from either arrangement . . . just interested in knowing what you were telling.

Feel this could be the winner. I love the way you have positioned your two photos. They could be twins pausing to reflect a thoughtful statement.

Really wonderful, I would be surprised if this did not get the blue.
