Thank you for the lovely comments. This was the hardest self portrait I have ever tried to do. The room was not big enough, so I had trouble getting the camera straight up against the wall, plus getting all that garb off and on took a lot of time - a make shift dress from a black background cloth.

Enough complaining, it was still fun to try something different. There are a lot of good images in this challenge. Great job all.

It was definitely worth all the work. So well done with the modern touch, I loved that!
I can see the glow Nikki mentioned but it didn't bother me at voting.

The mask, the cellphone, the sampler on the wall - such nice touches. I am bothered by the slight glow around her, most obvious, unfortunately, around her face and esp. eyes. But otherwise I like this a lot and find it perfectly in keeping with the challenge both in terms of subject and of editing. 10

The other Whistler's mom in the gallery here has a bit of clarity over yours, I think, but I really like both.
