 total fluke i got this guy ..
i hadn't been looking for insects to photograph lately as i've been concentrating on mr toddy .. he's so photogenic .. lol .. ;)

we were going for a walk and i was checking out the fence for insects thinking of this macro challenge .. sometimes robberflies hang out on it .. altho i havent noticed any since the fires and crazy rain we've been having ..
had the macro lens on first time in ages ..

and there he was .. quite small .. i snuck up really slow .. no sudden movements ..
lucky toddy was eating something disgusting some distance away .. i got off two shots before toddy came racing back and scared the robberfly away ..

looking at the shots on the camera i didnt think i'd got anything sharp or in focus .. but a few days later i had a look on the computer .. looks like I had a keeper.. ;)

2 hours till rollover ..
interesting phenomenon ..
this dropped from 7.3 to 6.9 in the last day of voting ..
also i have other photos in voting which have also dropped significantly in that time ..
it pays not to be too attached to the outcomes here .. as they seem so random .. :)

Congratulations this was always going to do well, as far as the drop goes I donĂ¢€™t understand because this is an excellent macro and should not get anything really under an eight.

An 8 from me (earlier). (would have been higher with a tad bit more DOF) But, it's wonderfully sharp!
