This image is actually an outtake from a shoot I did for the Tokyo International Photography Competition, which I only learned about 5 days before the deadline. The theme was need/want, and I immediately had several ideas for it. Because I've been in a creative and productive funk, I just knew I had to enter. In a frenzied whirlwind of activity, I managed to get 5 models, and shoot and process everything in 3 days. I am waiting to hear if we made the short list before I share what I entered.
In this shot, we were setting up for the "community" concept; they all wore stockings because I wanted to blur distinct features. However, in this shot they had the stockings pulled up to see me better, which to me makes them look like some sort of village hat.
I love how gentle and loving these three look, but it might have just been exhausted :) |

so appealing this image ..
it speaks to me on so many levels ... almost the least of which is the daguerreotype edit that i think is totally successful ..
i'm loving the feeling of closeness that these women portray .. i'm loving their differences and their similarities .. their different expressions are very engaging .. brilliant entry in the challenge .. :) |
