My Environment

My "resolution" is my environment. Inside and outside.

We had the first measurable snowfall in a month or so last night - along with high winds and a fifty degree temperature drop. The snow is good. Ski resorts are happy. We depend on the snowpack in the mountains for our water in the summer, so lots of snow is a really good thing.

These are little snowdrifts on top of a storage building.

great composition giving equal weight to foreground and (far) background, and the snow helps them all blend in well together and seem almost as one

Great patterns, darks and lights, the blues work really well. I also like the opposing points of view. Very nice!

This works so well as an abstract...the cool blues are so appealing too. You also caught the sparkle of the snow. I love when that happens.

Like roz I don't get to see snow very often - 3 times in my whole life - so I always wish I had the opportunity to get shots like this.

I was in Vail in September (so beautiful) and I am glad I missed the snow lol. I really love how all the curves compliment each other in the foreground and background.

A beautiful story of snow and wind and the calm after

An almost architectural landscape, great lines.

My resolution is similar though a bit more restricted as I thought to force myself outside in what, to me, is the least pleasant month of the year. I have no sense of scale when looking at this - which is not a criticism but rather a compliment. I feel as if that hole is opening up to swallow that miniature town and all that is in it.

Love the way your roof is a link between the immediate and the distant. It looks like it could have skiers or toboggans flying down its slope.

it's the distance above the roof that makes this. spectacular

I feel harmony when viewing your photograph. The roof has become part of the landscape. The blue toning emphasizes the frigid conditions. I like it.
