I'm so glad this image was well received. I was looking for wildlife shots for this challenge from my usual safari spot on my deck (thanks for outing me, Jane LOL - for the record 75% of my FS shots last year were taken within 10 feet of that spot).

I was facing the direction normally occupied by birds, squirrels, and chipmunks when I turned to get my drink (it was Happy Hour) and spied this rabbit on the edge of the property staring at this group of dandelions. This was the 16th in what turned out to be a series of 117 shots over 24 seconds that catch him eatin most of this first dandelion (he drops it) and all of the second. So had it not been for a thirst for bourbon and a ready camera I would have missed this.

To Kees' comment, it's a safe assumption that if you don't see a lens listed with my D500 that it's the Nikon 300mm F/4E PF ED. God, I love that lens - it lives on that body. Sharp as a tack, focuses quickly and accurately, and it's lighter than my 105mm macro. I need to get them to add it to list of lenses so it shows up in the future.

To the others who saw me crouched in the grass, it's not something I would avoid but in this case I merely knelt low enough to be just above the deck rail. And Paul, you're noticing of the mower blade scarring was something that made me laugh, because the minute after I finished processing this I had to go to the garage and sharpen them after wondering if anyone would comment on it.

Congratulations on an exquisite photograph and perfect title, Jake.
Some people go on "photo safaris" while you just go into your backyard.

Yum, dandelions! Reminds me of Thumper in the Bambi movie always eating the flowers.

Very clean, crisp and unequivocal. You can even see the mower scars on the grass blades. That's a remarkably sanguine wild rabbit to allow you to stalk it so closely. Anyway, wild or not it's a very competent photograph. Thank you.

I love rabbits (I have one myself). This is beautiful, nice vivid colors. My top for a ribbon. A 10 from me and my Red Dragon Award

Absolutely gorgeous - such a quiet and peaceful photo. It must have been amazing laid in the grass so close.
