The Dutch name for seal is "zeehond", literally: sea-dog. I think that name is spot on. Both in behavior (seals are curious and playful) as in looks and sound they have many similarities with genuine dogs.
Although this image is a composite of three images, it shows an actual scene. When we explore the coast of Loch Dunvegan the seals are really coming close when they see our two Westies and especially Hoover (the one on this image) is very interested in the seals as well.

Neat composite, but when you do this you need to be careful for where you go into and out of focus, and there are objects at the bottom that need to be in focus for this to be convincing - and otherwise it is.
