Shot with a human skull placed on a table lit by a desk lamp, I wore a fez on my head to accentuate resemblence with my trepanated "after". desaturated in the "channel mixer" and set the absolute black on the lightest level of gray on the table in "levels" + unsharp mask and downcrop a little.

Congratulations!!! This one was my favorite. Nice to see what you tweaked in Photoshop to get your picture.

Wow! I just looked at your profile, and saw several of my favorite pictures! Keep it up!

This is a pure work of art and deserves to be in the top 3. Who ever gave this a 1 or a 2 I suggest you just put the camera down because you just don't get it. Great job and congrats...

Excellent shot. Suprised nobody mentioned the similarity to this self-portrait by Robert Mapplethorpe. Well done on second place.

Thanks to all for your constant generosity over the past weeks, I'm not sure to have a camera available for this weeks challenge, will be glad to have my own camera back from repairs.

Nice composition. Dark idea. B&W is perfect for the picture. Borders are right on. Focus, lighting and contrast are excellent. One of the top pictures in the challenge. Good luck!

I love it! Momento Mori at its most gritty. I'm a bit indecisive about the way both "heads" are cut off at a slant at the top. It seems like both are wearing berets or something! It's kind of distracting, but maybe in a good way? Love the lighting and deep black tones. The skull glows out of the darkness.

very nice pic... contrast is perfect, just needs to be a little brighter... but it makes my top 5 this week good luck in the ribbon hunt!

Awesome. Great idea, and well executed. Your facial expression is such that it could be interpreted as ghastly serious or perhaps brimming with inanity. I love the multitude of ways this can be interpreted.

excellent work! This is one of my favs in this challenge.. the lighting is excellent... the only minor improvement I could offer here would be a slightly tighter crop maybe... = 10 - setzler

'Alas, poor Yorrick! I knew him.' Love this shot! Great expression...composition...contrasts...lighting (love the strong shadows on the left). 10! Lisa

This is a powerful piece of art. This is one of only two 10’s from me in this challenge. The detail, the focus, contrast all are superb. Brilliant masking of the man’s head to match the skull. This is impressive.

Very nicely done! What a sobering reminder though.........geeeeeeeesh......lol I guess under the skin we all look pretty similar.
Composition and lighting are both very nice. I bet this will score high....it is with me! :-)

Lighting is good, I would like to see it a little brighter. Good use of negative space. Cool Skull - Inspzil

challenge met. very nicely done. i like the composition and the one-sided light works well here. so does the negative space around you and the skull, both seem to be floating. b&w is perfect choice and the frame is great, too. no suggestions for change from me, great shot :)
