it's a moving photo, it's beyond what i expect from a camera to do, great job.
a really lucky man who have a GF with beautiful eyes like that,
and a talented man who can take a photo like that to an eye like this.

11/19/2004 01:12:33 AM
Yay a bluey! I'll drink to that :)
11/18/2004 12:27:06 PM
A-maaaazing. The photo is remarkable - and then to have it be the Nikon D70 - the camera I am dreaming of and drooling over - pretty much seals the deal for me. I want to have the opportunity to attempt something this cool. Great job - congrats!
11/17/2004 09:44:15 PM
AMAZING shot Yanik.

From the second that I saw this I knew it would bring home a blue.
Fantastic last minute idea.
11/17/2004 08:37:52 PM
WoW! Great work, congratulations on your Blue Ribbon it is well deserved!
11/17/2004 06:44:38 PM
Great win Yanik!!
11/17/2004 05:35:05 PM
i love how this looks like a bead of water on a feather in the thumbnail but then surprises you with being eye lashes.
11/17/2004 04:13:56 PM
Great shot and congrats on your win. I didn't even come close. I really like this image though. And I'm actually not even seeing it until now. Would have gave it a ten though. Also, selected it as one of my favorites. Again, good job...
11/17/2004 04:04:18 PM
Congratulations on your blue. Now here is an image which may have scored a similar fate in the impressionism challenge. Outstanding work.
11/17/2004 01:29:10 PM
Well that's just about the shallowest DOF I've ever seen on a photo!
11/17/2004 12:16:22 PM
Nice photo...the best part is seeing how much you love this photo in the comment above. It's great when a photo is special to the photographer and is also well received by his/her peers. The best of both worlds!

11/17/2004 11:29:07 AM
Many, many congratulations!!!!!!!
11/17/2004 10:40:43 AM
I find it hard to believe that ANYONE could give this a low mark. I wonder at times what they think they are proving. This is superb and a well deserved winner. Congrats and thanks for the details !
11/17/2004 10:37:06 AM

11/17/2004 07:50:18 AM
This is an awesome image, and a great idea! This is true inspiration to those of us (that means me) who find it hard to think of macro subjects other than bugs or flowers! Great work and congrats on the very well deserved blue! :-)
11/17/2004 06:53:16 AM

I liked the different approach in your composition here.
Well DOoe - Congrats on the Blue!
11/17/2004 12:31:06 AM
woohooo..you made it to top 10! hehehe... awesome shot!
11/17/2004 12:13:57 AM

This is prolly the best ribbon that I've won sicne I've been here!! Out of 529!!! I'm just stoked right now!!!!

And by the way, that crisp area on the skin the very shallow DOF (f 2.8)I had to work with. I would hold my breath for every shot... and even then the drop isn't crystal clear.

Thanks to all!!! WOOHOOOO!!!!! Party party party!!! :-P

PS: could an admin or a SC put a space somewhere in Sparky's post?? It's making everything all lopsided! Thanks! :-)

Well, so now we know what the Blue Ribbon picture is. UNBELIEVABLE! There are way too many shots of eye balls in this challenge, and that was to be expected, but this blows me away.
11/16/2004 01:31:00 PM
interesting capture. I like the blue lighting
11/16/2004 06:49:59 AM
What can I say. If I was still judging for publications this would certainly go "next round".
A shame about the dark area "top right" fantastic DOF and stunning catchlight. I am ignoring the crazing top centre dribbling down which I suspect looks softer in the original and put down to compression.
Love it

11/14/2004 07:56:33 PM
Nice job! I hope this does well for you.
11/13/2004 09:39:20 PM
This is for me the clear stand-out winner. The color, mood, focus, and DOF is spot on. Great shot! 10
11/13/2004 07:58:53 PM
wow this is really great 10
11/13/2004 07:50:06 PM
Outstanding shot with beautiful color and excellent clarity and DOF. Really great job.
11/13/2004 06:08:52 AM
I absolutely love this shot. I wonder if you'll get docked points because of the extremely shallow depth of field, but I think that is what makes this shot awesome. Great placement of the drop out of the center. I love the soft blues and black, and the blurred lashes in the back of the depth of field.

11/12/2004 12:29:22 PM
now that's a macro!!!
11/12/2004 11:47:13 AM
Very nice color and light. Good eye lashes too. Border complements it nicely.
11/11/2004 05:02:57 PM
Unbelieveable....I love everything about this one....and wonder how in the world you did that? Focusing must have been a real challenge.
11/11/2004 02:00:11 PM
By far the best eye picture of the challenge. Excellent work!
11/11/2004 09:35:46 AM
this is my best bet to win the 1st place in this challenge, very neat, the concept is great!!!!! perfect compositon....congrats in advance.... my rating...10!!!!
11/11/2004 07:36:53 AM
too shallow DOF ...
nice anyway - 6
11/10/2004 10:33:29 PM
Outstanding shot and one of my top picks. Good luck!
11/10/2004 07:29:34 PM
Very nice artistic shot. 8
11/10/2004 05:25:40 PM
An ecellent concept this. The exposure and/or harshness of light seems just a little too high for a 9 to me. You have a great imagination. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Some more detail on the lashes would appeal more to me.

11/10/2004 03:58:14 PM
Amazing shot. The DoF, lighting, colour, are all great. 10
11/10/2004 02:51:33 PM
Great shot. if it wasnt for a grainy streak going down from the eye, and on the eye lid, This would have definately got a 9 or better. But hey it still one of my top picks.

how did you do this? I like the sharpness of the drop in contrast to almost the rest of the picture.

The blue also works good for this shot IMO.

11/10/2004 09:47:46 AM
Now *this* is a neat eye! :)
11/10/2004 08:09:45 AM
So far, this is the best "eyelash" shot.
11/10/2004 03:16:26 AM
Nicely executed.
11/10/2004 01:30:27 AM
This is sure to win. If not, you got robbed. Perfect photo in every way. The WOW impact is overwhelming. Wonderful ! I can't wait to read details on how this was done. 10
