OMG .. an hour and a half before rollover and this is sitting around 6.6848 .. i'm stoked .!!.
i was thinking i might get around 4 .. but because i liked it so much and loved the way the processing turned this into something quite edgy and 'deep' i put it in anyway ..

and the icing on the cake is the posthumous red ribbon .. thankyou so much Don .. :)

for neat and anyone else who wanted to know .. i took this photograph on the firetrail near where i live .. the feature is a white gate which goes into the waterboard .. i tried many shutter speeds and camera movements to get something that had promise ..
processing .. i boosted the colour/saturation/clarity in raw .. using HDR efex and silver efex i then converted to black and white, made more contrasty and brought out the detail..
the original jpeg was uncontrasty, muted and dull ..

PS .. A GREAT BIG THANKYOU TO EVERYONE FOR WELCOMING ME BACK .. BLOWN AWAY .. :) ..:) ..:) ..:).

Congratulations Roz on your ribbon! I am so glad it won one, as it was clearly my favorite of this challenge. The textures are simply wonderful, and the whole image is extremely interesting to stare at. Marvelous.

Your shot got an enthusiastic 9 from me (no time to bump it)
I normally am not happy when photography gets too close to a different medium and can be taken as a charcoal drawing or a painting but this one has too many qualities to be overlooked
