Gordon,
You don't know how bad I wanted to hop the fence and get next to something to compliment the foreground. All I had was a barbed wire fence which kind of took the atmosphere away from the serene landscape. Yes I want to get a polarizing filter, but just haven't done it yet.
Thanks for the nice comments and I always look forward to see what your latest entry is. Keep up the good work on the CC and keep shootin'.

CC: Great framing, good composition too. I love how the hills roll to the horizon. One thing maybe missing and common to a lot of great landscape shots is some more foreground interest. This would add to the scale and provide maybe something to rest your eye on. A small bush, and interesting rock and flower bravely facing the elements. With this in the frame, you could include more foreground, less sky ?

Another option if you are looking for a clearer shot is to consider using a polariser, which would reduce some of the atmospheric haze - although personally I like the depth it has added to your picture.

For those of you that may be interested we had pretty poor weather in central CA during this challenge week. It was very foggy in the valley where I live so I headed for some higher elevation. The hills of the coast range are always so dry in the summer and fall months I decided to go there to capture some of the green from recent rain. This picture was taken just south of the entrance to the Morgan Territory Regional Reserve, just east of the Oakland bay area. I waited quite awhile for the haze to lift but It only started getting thicker so this was the best I could get on this trip.
Thanks to all of you that enjoyed this picture, it has been a pleasure to share some of the west coast landscape with you.
Dick

This photo has something special about it. I love the rolling rills and the way each ridge becomes progressively more grey - the haze really works well for your photo. What a lovely house that would be to live in. Great work - this is a pano worthy of going to the printers and framers

Great hills, the fog/mist adds nice depth. I like the framing of the concave forground. 9

Can I come live with you? This is what a landscape is supposed to be. Beautiful land, beautiful shot. 10

A very elegant study of lines and curves.

Beautiful lines in this photo, it really draws you into the little tree area in the middle, and then out again. I don't think I would change much at all. Congratulations. - 9 - Annida

A pretty scene, but bright sunlight washes out the hills in the background. Would prefer more contrast there. What strikes me most is the shortage of trees.

I can almost *feel* the colors.

The hill in front seems to distract a little from the landscape in the background. Nice rolly hills in the background, shame they are enveloped in a light haze.

The near focus is perfect for these rolling hills. Great color as well.

Wonderful mixture of colors, curves, tones.
The people that live there live in a beautiful landscape.

The curve in the foreground is a nice frame for what comes beyond it and is a reference for the depth of this. The fence is the only minor distraction.

Absolutely stunning. I would like to know where this was taken. I love the way you have captured colour and haze all in the one photo. Also, I love the sweeping hills, reminds me of that movie/song 'The sound of music'. Excellent job. GL.

Very pretty. I really like the hills and the inclusion of the green in the foreground is great. A little less light, giving more definitiion to the hills, would be nice.

I can almost hear "The hills are alive....... with the sound of muuuuusic!" Beautiful!! I like the way you framed it with the sloping hill, dipping in the middle as it does.

Truly wonderful texture and feeling. Great composition and framing. A polarizing filter may be the only suggestion that I could offer. Great work.

Very nice hills, but I would've like to see more color and detail on the background. Good luck!

Nice use of a panaramic type shot. The front left corner seems a tad too green. this shot would have been great on a clearer day.

Nice. You should have included more of the green foreground hill. That would give the pic a much more "balanced" feel to it I think.

beautifull composed. The foreground hill is symetrically placed and guides us to the hills beyond. Very lovely.

wow .. what a landscape, the apparent cloudiness gives it a great depth of field but could you imagine the colour on a great cloudless sunny day ! 6
