I really loved this picture of yours (the sunset on the beach!)

YAY! I got assigned a shot that I really like! :o)
This was one of my 10s for the challenge so I'm not sure how constructive I can really be. I just think that the colors are awesome. The reflection of the sky on the wet sand is beautiful. I would maybe like to see even more of the building silhouette, but I wouldn't want any cropped off the left side b/c of that great white oval of light in the sky. Maybe you could have moved to the right to achieve that.
I really like that the horizon isn't centered - that bugs me to no end. The sand seems to have more color gradation than the sky so I think it was a good choice to put the extra room there instead of above. I'm sorry that I can't offer more suggestions, but I just think it's gorgeous as is.

Good job. Great colors and composition.

I really like the dynamics of this shot, where the horizon is placed and where the reflective beach seems to fade away to black. The placement of the dock is great, just the plain sunset would have been pretty but not content, here there is a subject int he shot. It makes me think I would have loved to be out there staring off into the sunset and the waves. My only observation/question is what is that blurred object just below the dock. This really caught my attention becasue everything else int he shot is ion perfect focus. Great capture.8.

My only suggestion would be to crop some of the bottom of it so that it was more narrow. This would eliminate some of the foreground. I think this picture would be effective if the structure on the right were in the middle horizontally, and water between the sky and reflection cut the picture in half -- "breaking" the thirds rule.
Still, an awesome shot!!!!

great colors...awesome pic

This is a good picture, not my favorite but close. :)
I like the reflections in the wet sand.
If statistics works this is going to be the winer

Great colours, composition and sharpness. A 9 in my book.

The reflection on the beach/water is beatiful and the lines in the foreground lead you right into it. The construction at the right adds another interesting element. It tells me something about the place, it creates perspective, a reference for size and the poles create a nice texture.
The bright spot in the middle is less attractive, but still a great photo.

Would've made a great panorama. Lovely sky and reflections.

This is a good shot. Nice Color.

I mostly like the beautiful lines in this picture.. you have horizontal and vertical.. lots of contrast, and nice colors too.
01/15/2003 12:04:15 AM
Excellent color! The horizon might be just a tad slanted (or that could be an illusion), but not so badly that it hurts this wonderful shot!
01/14/2003 10:41:44 PM
The horizon is a bit slanted but oh wow!...great colors and excellent lighting. Good luck!

I think you have a little too much beach in the foreground - I would have aimed to have the pier slightly lower in the photo, although I guess the title of your photo explains that to some degree. Interesting sunset.

Terrific colors. I think I would have liked to see a bit more fo the pier. Overall very nice composition and clarity.
01/14/2003 04:12:45 PM
Beautiful colors in this one...I love the pier just to the edge of the photo and the colors reflected on the wet sand....great job.

Beautiful photo...I love landscape and the colors it can produce..Good eye for beauty

Great color, mood, exposure. The only thing that would make me happier about this pic is if I were there to push the button and take the credit. - 10 - Inspzil

Fantastic colour, beautifully captured.

Is this the same dock place as in that California Dreaming submission in Song Titles? 5.
01/14/2003 12:01:44 AM
More of a seascape, otherwise it's very nice, that's the only reason I rated it low
01/13/2003 10:48:00 PM
Very pretty photo, but I can't see any sand, so would disagree (cringe) with your title. I love the composition, the lighting, and the colors.

Awesome use of color. Very cool lighting. 10
