There were obviously quite a few people who really liked this photo, but I have to admit that it didn't really "speak" to me. It is a night shot of course but seems overly dark to me. The fireworks jump out, but you have to really look to see the rest of the scene. I do like how the fireworks frame the tower. Exposure on this sort of shot is difficult, and you seem to have done a pretty good job at retaining some of the colors in the firworks. The perspective could be a little better if the tall building weren't directly between the camera and the subject. The cityscape is too dark to be of much interest. The real draw in the shot is smack dab in the center which makes me wonder if you couldn't just crop off a lot of the rest. Being at a distance does help in taking in the whole scene, but it's a shame that there isn't some way to take advantage of the situation and use the surroundings to really add to the shot more. I'm not sure that there's really much you could do given the circumstances though. Focus, detail, and noise level are all really good given the conditions. ~critique club

Wow! This is amazing! Congratulations. Unfortunately, I started critiquing this competition yesterday and wasn't able to finish so I never saw this. I can't believe you took it all the way from West Seattle!

I love the way you captured the fireworks framing the top of the needle. The fireworks follow the same shape and lines as the needle, and makes for a great composition.

While I can't vote, I think this is a great shot. Captures the spirit very well. Nice framing.

This shot is cropped very well, and it's overall a good shot. I wish there were more colors from the fireworks though.

I live in Tacoma and can relate. Great shot!
The Needle is centered with perfect reflection and city scape.

Nice shot of the needle, The building blocking the bottom of the needle really stands out and I think I would like it a bit better to see more of the fireworks at the top of the picutre. Overall not bad.

Gorgeous shot, gave it a 9, would like to have seen the bottom cropped out a bit. It adds to your perspective, but the shot is very very pretty without it.
